Intro. - “If” by Rudyard Kipling - “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs . . . you’ll be a man my son.” All about Paul men were “losing their heads” and deserting him. Pauls tells Timothy to remain strong. How was he to do that?

Pass this gospel on to faithful men - already knew the Lord
these men will be able to teach others
Endure For The Gospel
Be the dedicated soldier vs3-4
You do not become a soldier for the good life - Private Benjamin
Do not get entangled with the world
Your desire is to please the commanding officer - God
Be the disciplined athlete v5
Your goal is the victor’s prize - Philippians 3:14
You must obey the rules - right conduct - chip technology (cheating in races)
Be the hardworking farmer v6
The Greek word indicates “toil” - to work hard
Not a lot of glamour, medals, or trophies
The farmer does get the first part of the harvest
Seeing people grow in Christ
Seeing people accept Christ as Savior
Concl. - Verse 7 - Pay attention, the Lord gives understanding
