Introduction

Last week we were discussing the benefits of submitting our lives to God in holiness. We talked about getting God’s Word from our head to our heart in the process of becoming holy before the Lord.
The next point we spoke of was that we need to imagine the possibilities of what God can do through our lives when we allow His Word to transform us.
So then we determined to be holy before the Lord.
Today we will delve deeper into what God is wanting to do through our lives as we are transformed. We already know that God can take literally anyone and turn them so completely around that they are unrecognizable as the people that were once steeped in sin so badly that their own families had given up on them.

The Holy Spirit Refines Us To Be Holier

The work of the Holy Spirit in our lives is something that we must absolutely become obsessed over as Christians if we are serious about bringing glory to God with our lives.
Hebrews 4:12–13 ESV
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
The highway of holiness is something that God creates, not man, and when He creates a highway of holiness He exposes sin like a refiner’s fire.
You are not truly in the presence of God if sin isn’t being exposed in your life.
You are simply practicing your form of religion.
The Holy Spirit is our Helper in every sense. The Greek word that was used to commonly refer to the Holy Spirit is paraclete; meaning advocate or helper.
The Holy Spirit has been with you throughout your entire spiritual journey, and will never leave you.
Holy Spirit brings us to salvation
Holy Spirit is leading us to and through sanctification.
Holy Spirit empowers believers to glorify God
Holy Spirit brings unity
The work of the Holy Spirit is always geared toward the continuing work of Jesus through the lives of His followers to bring honor to Christ.
John 16:12–14 ESV
“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

Difference Between Religion and Relationship

There is a marked difference between a person of God that is working in tandem with the Holy Spirit (the anointing) and someone that is speaking from either their tradition or
There is a difference when the Spirit of God speaks to your heart through a servant that is submitted to Him and someone with a Pharisaical spirit.
The people of Jesus’ day were accustomed to hearing the Word of God, yet when they heard Jesus speak they exclaimed that they had never heard anyone speak like He was speaking (John 7:45-46).
John 7:45–46 ESV
The officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why did you not bring him?” The officers answered, “No one ever spoke like this man!”
We desperately need to be so connected to God that people cannot tell where we end and the Holy Spirit begins in our lives. Of course we are all human and sometimes our flaws can be seen.
When the Holy Spirit is active within our lives God can use us to do amazing things to make Himself known to the world around us.
But we must hold ourselves accountable in this area. We need to survey our own hearts at times by seeing how others behave around us.
If the Spirit of the Living God is wielding the Word of God in us then sin cannot stay rampant in the lives of those who hear the Word of God from us!
You see, God is building something within us and we must by all means protect what is being built and not allow it to be hindered in any way.

God’s Message Bearers

You are God’s message bearers in the earth today. God has been constructing a highway straight from Heaven, right through your life so that He can show the world who He is through you!
Isaiah 35:8–10 ESV
And a highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Way of Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it. It shall belong to those who walk on the way; even if they are fools, they shall not go astray. No lion shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast come up on it; they shall not be found there, but the redeemed shall walk there. And the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
The world is extremely suspicious of change in a person. The common misconception is that people really don’t change.
But we are not in this for a self help seminar, the Holy Spirit is working in us so that the world around us can see Christ in us in all of our ways.
We can be a tremendous help even to one another in building each other up through the power of the Holy Spirit within us.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 ESV
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
Ephesians 4:29 ESV
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Hebrews 10:24–25 ESV
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
We are not in competition with, but rather in union with the body of Christ through the Holy Spirit. We are to be in union more than we are to be at odds with one another.
So many have wasted their time in trying to prove who is right and who is wrong instead of trying to bring unity and restoration to the message bearers of Christ.
We know that we will not be successful in bringing unity in every case. But let’s give praise and glory to God in every instance that God does bring unity in the Spirit!
Prayer: Pray especially for the churches and their leaders. Pray for local, state and federal government. Pray for the world to receive the message that the Church brings by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in these last days.
