What is the KEY to being a person who is truly thankful?

Ephesians 5:20 NIV84
always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I. The FREQUENCEY of praise – “…always”
II. The ACT of praise – “…giving thanks”
III. The OBJECT of our praise – “…to God the Father”
IV. The CONTENT of our praise – “…for everything”
V. The MANNER in which we praise – “…in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ”
Ephesians 5:20 is not a PRESCRIPTIVE FORMULA for Thanksgiving, but rather it is a DESCRIPTIVE CONSEQUENCE of one who is “filled with the Spirit!”
FOUR REALITIES of the HOLY SPIRIT from the Letter to the Ephesians!

I. You are SEALED with the Spirit - (Eph 1:13-14)

II. You are INDWELT by the Spirit - (Eph 2:19-22)

III. You MAY BE STRENGTHENED by the Spirit - (3:14-21)

IV. You Should NOT GRIEVE the Spirit - (4:30)

Colossians 3:15–17 NIV84
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

The KEY to Thanksgiving is to be FILLED with the SPIRIT!
