The OT laws that carry over into the NT reveal to us the eternal character of God and give us a guide in our sanctification. The OT laws that applied only for Israel give an insight into the purpose and plan for the nation. Knowing the difference is vital for the believer.

National - Civil, economic and judicial. Form the basis of much of western society.

Moral - Laws which reflect on the character of God and are repeated in the New Testament.
