Who May Enter His Holy Hill?

Psalm 24: 3-6 gives us a great description of what an acceptable worshipper should look like.
Psalm 24:3–6 ESVWho shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah
Those who seek Him with clean hands, a pure heart. Those who do this will receive from God.Romans 4:3-6 talks about this.
Romans 4:3–6 ESVFor what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works:
These two things, justification and true worship are inseparable. In order to be a true worshipper, we must be justified before God.
Luke 7:47 ESVTherefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.”
When we realize the price that was paid for our sins, how can we think we have been forgiven little? Here is the simple truth. We are all sinners. Whether that be one sin (If you believe that, you need to seriously have a long discussion with yourself and what scripture has to say.), a few sins, many sins, or a ton of sins, we are all sinners. Without the redemptive work that was paid for us on the cross, we would all face eternal separation from God, our heavenly Father. We need to continually allow the Holy Spirit to continue to work on the vessel we are.
Even though we may strive to be like Christ, we all have sin in our lives. We continually battle these. As we conquer one sin that may have had a strangle hold on us, through the power of the Holy Spirit, He will begin to work on another area of our lives to continue to sanctify us.
When will this process of sanctification be complete? When we come face to face with our Father.People who are willing to allow the Holy Spirit to convict them of their sin and continue to work on those areas of their lives are true worshippers. They grasp the truth of the Gospel. How we worship our Father and how we lay these burdens at His feet and allow Him to continue to work and shape us, shows our eternal destiny.
Those who are true worshippers, will have CLEAN HANDS
Those who are true worshippers, will be JUSTIFIED.
Those who are true worshippers, will have NEW HEARTS. So that their motives, desire, and affections will tend to be pure and virtuous.
Those who are true worshippers, will RENEW THEIR MINDS ON THE WORD OF GOD.
Those who truly seek God will BEAR THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT. It will be evident in their lives, and you won’t have to go looking for it through the leaves of the tree. Their tree will bear so much of that fruit, you will be able to see it as you approach the person.
WHAT DO PEOPLE SEE IN YOU? What does scripture have to say about people who do this? We’ll go back to the end of the scripture in Psalm that we looked at at the beginning of this section.
Psalm 24:6 ESVSuch is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah
It will be a struggle to always bring our “A game” to worship. We are human. However, this shouldn’t be an excuse.
2 Corinthians 3:18 ESVAnd we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
Philippians 3:12 ESVNot that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.
We should continually allow the Holy Spirit to be at work in our lives as I said earlier.
What does Scripture have to say about those who do not seek to have true worship and fellowship with God? This is a hard one, and you need to seriously look at yourself in the mirror when you read these verses.
Romans 1:18–21 ESVFor the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Right here, you can see God’s attitude toward sinful man. The simple fact is that our Holy God CANNOT look on sin.Not to worship God is at the heart of all evil.

Turning Pagans Into Worshipers

Redemption can be looked at turning false worshipers into true worshipers. In John 4, Jesus uses the term “true worshipers” for believers.Using this term gives action to what we should be doing as believers.
Romans 8:23 ESVAnd not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
As we deal with our earthly bodies and the weakness of the flesh, we look forward to the day when we will be able to shed these for the perfect body we will be given, and we won’t have to struggle to worship our Father rightly. However, we should strive to bring our “A-game” to worship each day since true worship is the first visible expression of our faith. We should strive to do this each day we have been blessed with and ask forgiveness when we find ourselves falling short. We should make sure in our temple/church that people will see the love of Christ in us, no matter if we are in the hallways or in the worship center.
Wherever you are, the love of Christ should be reflected in all your interactions. If not, what are you displaying to the unbeliever who is in the hallway, foyer, parking lot, or worship center? How are you displaying this Monday-Saturday as well? Oh my. We must not only speak the words of the scripture, but we must apply them and live them out daily. If we don’t we are not set apart except for when we enter the church building. I don’t see anywhere in scripture where this is acceptable. I don’t see how God can use us to make a difference in the world.

The Mark of the Believer

Philippians 3:3 ESVFor we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh—
This is probably the best definition of a believer anywhere in the Bible.
Paul was dealing a group of false teachers who were telling the Gentiles they couldn’t be true believers unless they conformed to Judaism and followed all of the laws set by the Jewish faith.
Paul let them know that the true believers faith wasn’t marked by some sort of physical act, but it was a spiritual act.
We want to think that a distinguishing act of a Christian life is showing love towards others.
How is that different from the acts of non-believers who share their riches doing good works? If that was all it took, there would be many people who use what they have been given in heaven. The true mark of a believer is that of a person who worships God in the Spirit.
Galatians 5:22–23 ESVBut the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
These will be at the heart of the person’s worship.Real love begins with the love for the true God
1 John 4:7–8 ESVBeloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Fullness of joy can be found in Christ.
John 15:11 ESVThese things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
John 17:13 ESVBut now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
You will not be able to find true peace without God
Romans 5:11 ESVMore than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
Worshiping in spirit and in truth is not only the real mark of a Christian, it also is the root of every other virtue.

How about you?

Signs of a true worshiper/Christian
You are more concerned about what you give than what you receive
We are offering God ourselves as a sacrifice
sharing
acting righteously
praising
The key that unlocks all of this is salvation.
If we are Christians, and we find ourselves lacking in offering our true and holy worship to God, then we are failing to do what we were redeemed for.
Some important questions to ask yourself truthfully:Do you worship God?
Is worship a way of life for you?
“Scripture calls for worship; destiny calls for worship; eternity calls for worship; the angels call for worship. Our Lord COMMANDS it.”
Are you a true worshiper?
