Illustration of us with our kids and Words
Shut up
Stupid
Oh My God
Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.
How many of us believe that words can do this? (LIFE or DEATH)
The Holy Spirit has helped Shelly and I (as Parents) tell our kids about words.
Until Our kids went to school, Bad words to them was .....
Shut-up, Stupid, and Oh My God!
Share the story about Logan (VBS Fight between 2 kids) sharing what was said.
The “F” word.
I know that many of us have had those situations in life where you said things in the heat of the moment.
Cocked and Ready -
Even in everyday life situations (Not in a heated moment) we can sometime start the dying process with our words.
Cocked and Ready -
Do we realize that those words are bullets that kill or are causing a slow death for people?
The same can be said about those people who, in the heat of the battle speak LIFE into the situation.
Cocked and ready -
Even in everyday life situations (Not in the heat of the moment) we can speak life with our words.
Cocked and ready -
Have we forgotten that words are like (fresh water) or better yet its like vitamins that can help someone group up strong and healthy.
The tongue can bring DEATH or LIFE! It has the ability to do this.
James 3:3-10 give a great example of how destructive the tongue (words) can be.
3 If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well.
4 Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs.
5 So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things.
How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell.
7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind,
8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God.
10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.
IT CAN DESTROY!
There was an experiment done when it comes to words and their power!
Japanese scientist, Masaru Emoto performed some of the most fascinating experiments on the effect that words have on energy in the 1990’s. When frozen, water that’s free from all impurities will form beautiful ice crystals that look exactly like snowflakes under a microscope. Water that’s polluted, or has additives like fluoride, will freeze without forming crystals. In his experiments, Emoto poured pure water into vials labeled with negative phrases like “I hate you” or “fear.” After 24 hours, the water was frozen, and no longer crystallized under the microscope: It yielded gray, misshapen clumps instead of beautiful lace-like crystals. In contrast, Emoto placed labels that said things like “I Love You,” or “Peace” on vials of polluted water, and after 24 hours, they produced gleaming, perfectly hexagonal crystals. Emoto’s experiments proved that energy generated by positive or negative words can actually change the physical structure of an object. The results of his experiments were detailed in a series of books beginning with The Hidden Messages in Water, where you can see the astounding before and after photos of these incredible water crystals.
How many times a day do we throw our words away? We say things like, “I hate my hair,” “I’m so stupid,” “I’m such a klutz.” We never think that these words bring negative energy into our vibration and affect us on a physical level, but they do. Emoto’s experiments were conducted with water. Why? Because sound vibration travels through water four times faster than it does through open air. Consider the fact that your body is over 70% water and you’ll understand how quickly the vibration from negative words resonates in your cells. Ancient scriptures tell us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. As it turns out, that’s not a metaphor.
There was a study done by the company IKEA (Anti-bullying focus)
30 days (2 plants)
One spoke into (Positive words)
One spoke into (Negative words)
Result
Negative plant eventually withers to nothing
Positive plant flourishes with healthiness and is beautiful.
There is even a biblical example of this .....
Matthew 21:19 And seeing a fig tree by the wayside, he went to it and found nothing on it but only leaves. And he said to it, “May no fruit ever come from you again!” And the fig tree withered at once.
Power of Jesus words (WOW)
How powerful are the words of Jesus when he says, “YOU ARE FORGIVEN.”
The sting of death and sin is no more!
We have the ability to speak death or life into others.
We also have the ability to speak death or life into ourselves.
A lady had trouble with her legs for most of her adult life.
She was being ministered to by a Christian counselor.
The found out that she had spoken a word curse over her in her teen years.
“I hate my legs.”
This curse manifested into this girls legs and what was needed to be done was to “called it out” and brake this word curse.
As James made clear to us this morning ..... They can Bless or they can Curse.
I believe there are people here this morning who have had spoken WORD CURSES over yourselves or someone has spoken them over you.
I am offering us an opportunity this morning to “call the out” and be free from them.
