How does our faith grow? Is it up to us as Christians, or is it up to God to grow us? While competing faith claims either place the burden of religious advancement (legalistically) on one’s shoulders or (deterministically) on God’s, our text explains that sanctification happens when God’s sovereignty and Christian responsibility meet in a divinely-motivated, God-glorifying effort of authentic discipleship.
