As the Church fulfills its responsibility to serve and encourage one another, God gives spiritual growth to the church. Through the two roles in the church, God gives two responsibilities, which when we are faithful yield two results for the edification of the body.

Exhortations to the Church – A Study in Ephesians The Church's Ministry (Ephesians 4:11-16) I. Two iv. v. a) No longer be children – The equipper and the equippee b) No longer be carried away by teaching Ephesians 4:11-12 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, A. Gifted c) No longer be carried away by trickery Colossians 2:4-8 B. That we would 1 Timothy 5:17; 1 Peter 5:1-3 B. Faithful Hebrews 13:7 II. Two Ephesians 4:12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, A. For Ephesians 4:15-16 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head -- Christ -- 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. Ephesians 4:15-16; Ephesians 4:25 i. 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 B. For ii. up -like Colossians 1:18-23 Ephesians 2:19-21; Ephesians 4:29 iii. III. Two 1 Corinthians 12:11-27 A. That we would at Ephesians 4:13-14 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, Ephesians 4:13-14 iv. Ephesians 1:19; Colossians 1:29, 1 Corinthians 12:21-2 Application: • Are you growing in your own life so that you can minister to others and help them grow in Christ? • Are you available to be used by God to build up others in the church? i.
