DON’T GET STUCK IN YOUR WILDERNESS SEASON!
DON’T GET STUCK IN YOUR WILDERNESS SEASON!
I. The PENALTY of sin is REMOVED in Egypt
‘The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
II. The POWER over sin is RELEASED in the Red Sea
As Pharaoh drew near, the sons of Israel looked, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they became very frightened; so the sons of Israel cried out to the Lord.
Then the Egyptians took up the pursuit, and all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots and his horsemen went in after them into the midst of the sea.
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may come back over the Egyptians, over their chariots and their horsemen.”
So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal state at daybreak, while the Egyptians were fleeing right into it; then the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?
For I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that our fathers were all under the cloud and all passed through the sea;
and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
The Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and he chased after the sons of Israel as the sons of Israel were going out boldly.
Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord swept the sea back by a strong east wind all night and turned the sea into dry land, so the waters were divided.
III. The PRESENCE of sin is REVEALED in the Wilderness
Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness and found no water.
When they came to Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter; therefore it was named Marah.
The Wilderness can represent a season of:
ISOLATION
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
TEMPTATION
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
PREPARATION
When the devil had finished every temptation, he left Him until an opportune time.
And Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about Him spread through all the surrounding district.
Isolation in the wilderness will reveal what is inside of you!
Then they said to Moses, “Is it because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you dealt with us in this way, bringing us out of Egypt?
“Is this not the word that we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, ‘Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”
Temptation in the wilderness will reveal what is inside of you!
Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led around by the Spirit in the wilderness
for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And He ate nothing during those days, and when they had ended, He became hungry.
If we do not lose our focus in seasons of Isolation and Temptation, it will result in our Preparation for our Destination!
These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel across the Jordan in the wilderness, in the Arabah opposite Suph, between Paran and Tophel and Laban and Hazeroth and Dizahab.
It is eleven days’ journey from Horeb by the way of Mount Seir to Kadesh-barnea.
“So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until the entire generation of those who had done evil in the sight of the Lord was destroyed.
If we DO lose our focus, we will settle for wilderness living and forsake our inheritance in the Promise Land!
Numbers 32:5
They said, “If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants as a possession; do not take us across the Jordan.”
Now when Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made a proclamation and said, “Tomorrow shall be a feast to the Lord.”
