Peace in Troubled Times

Trouble is brewing in the last days as the Second Coming of Christ approaches

Matthew 24:3–14 NKJV
Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

God is our refuge and our strength, a very present help in time of trouble

Psalm 62:5–8 NKJV
My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah
Refuge: God is our safe place
Strength: God is our strength to stand and to obey
Very present help
“An abundant available help".
God is with us to help us.
Therefore (Because of God) we will not fear
Even though the earth be removed
And though the mountains be carried away into the midst of the sea
Though the waters roar and be troubled
Through the mountains shake with swelling
Though the nations rage
Though the kingdoms are moved

God has provided a safe place that is brings gladness rather than fear

The river of God makes glad the city of God
Ezekiel 47:1-12
Source of life.
The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High (“dwelling places”)
God is in the midst of her (His presence)
The safe place is the place of His presence
The LORD of hosts is with us
The God of Jacob is our refuge
She will not be moved
God will help her just at the break of dawn

Come, behold the works of the LORD

Who made desolations in the earth
Who makes wars to cease to the end of the earth
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two and burns the chariot with fire

Be still, and know that I am God

“Be still” means to rest by ceasing to strive in worry and fear.
Psalm 62:5 NKJV
My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him.
Silence is the response of calm assurance that no longer strives in worry or fear.
Know that I am God
God will be exalted among the nations
God will be exalted in the earth
The LORD of hosts is with us
The God of Jacob is our refuge.
Selah: Pause and meditate on this.
