We look at the call of God on Jeremiah, and receive His call on every Christian today.

Introduction Introducción

Everyone of us want to live with purpose. We want to know that we have more to do on this earth beyond simply living, working, having kids, and dying.

We hear Jeremiah 29:11 used a lot in saying God has a plan for us, but often we do not allow that to become a reality in our lives.

Todos queremos vivir con un propósito. Queremos saber que tenemos más que hacer en esta tierra más allá de simplemente vivir, trabajar, tener hijos y morir.

Escuchamos que Jeremías 29:11 se usa mucho para decir que Dios tiene un plan para nosotros, pero a menudo no permitimos que eso se convierta en una realidad en nuestras vidas.

Call and Response Llama y responde

Every call of God has two main parts that we will focus on:

The Call, and The Response La Llamada, y la Respuesta

1 God Calls Jeremiah Dios llama a Jeremías

Jeremiah 1:4-7 (NKJV & RVR1960)

4 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

5 Antes que te formase en el vientre te conocí, y antes que nacieses te santifiqué, te di por profeta a las naciones.

What was Jeremiah’s response? ¿Cuál fue la respuesta de Jeremías?

6 Then said I: “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.”

6 Y yo dije: !!Ah! !!ah, Señor Jehová! He aquí, no sé hablar, porque soy niño.

7 But the Lord said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak.

7 Y me dijo Jehová: No digas: Soy un niño; porque a todo lo que te envíe irás tú, y dirás todo lo que te mande.

2 Jesus Calls the Disciples Jesús llama a los discípulos

Matthew 4:18-22 (NKJV & RVR1960)

18 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.

18 Andando Jesús junto al mar de Galilea, vio a dos hermanos, Simón, llamado Pedro, y Andrés su hermano, que echaban la red en el mar; porque eran pescadores.

19 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

19 Y les dijo: Venid en pos de mí, y os haré pescadores de hombres.

How Did the Disciples Respond? ¿Cómo respondieron los discípulos?

20 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

20 Ellos entonces, dejando al instante las redes, le siguieron.

3 Jesus Calls the Rich Young Ruler Jesús Llama al Joven Rico

Matthew 19:16-22 (NKJV & RVR1960)

16 Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good[a] Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”

16 Entonces vino uno y le dijo: Maestro bueno, ¿qué bien haré para tener la vida eterna?

17 So He said to him, [b]“Why do you call Me good? [c]No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

17 El le dijo: ¿Por qué me llamas bueno? Ninguno hay bueno sino uno: Dios. Mas si quieres entrar en la vida, guarda los mandamientos.

18 He said to Him, “Which ones?”

Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’

18 Le dijo: ¿Cuáles? Y Jesús dijo: No matarás. No adulterarás. No hurtarás. No dirás falso testimonio.

19 ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”

19 Honra a tu padre y a tu madre; y, Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo.

20 The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept [d]from my youth. What do I still lack?”

20 El joven le dijo: Todo esto lo he guardado desde mi juventud. ¿Qué más me falta?

21 Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

21 Jesús le dijo: Si quieres ser perfecto, anda, vende lo que tienes, y dalo a los pobres, y tendrás tesoro en el cielo; y ven y sígueme.

What was the Rich Man’s Response? ¿Cuál fue la respuesta del hombre rico?

22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

Jeremiah pointed out his flaws - Jeremías señaló sus defectos

The Disciples Immediately followed Jesus - Los discípulos siguieron inmediatamente a Jesús

The Rich man left, sad - El rico se fue triste

Isaiah 6:8 (NKJV & RVR1960)

8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:

“Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?”

Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

8 Después oí la voz del Señor, que decía:
