John 4:34–38 ESV
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work. Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest. Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together. For here the saying holds true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”
Our joy in God leads to our joy in God's harvest
Jesus' work was accomplished on the cross - his life, death, and resurrection so that whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (His body sown)
Jesus invites (and commissions) his followers into the work of the harvest. Eternal souls of people. Followers of Jesus share the gospel and make disciples. Followers of Jesus are invited to pray to the Lord of the harvest that He will send more laborers (Matt 9)
In everything, God gets the glory and we get the joy.
Think about God's harvest right here in Richmond and the future plans on this property and the nations.
Let's pray

Summarize the context:

Jesus had just finished talking to the woman at the well, and she was spiritually changed after meeting with Jesus and his amazing love. She calls the whole town to come and see Jesus. (Jn. 4:30)
When the Disciples get there, they are confused about what Jesus is doing and their initial concern is on the physical. Jesus tells them that he has food to eat , but he is talking about spiritual food — the will and work of the Father. What was Jesus’ work? Jesus came to earth to seek and to save the lost. To secure eternal life for his people.
Jesus then calls the disciples to look and see the great harvest of souls before them! The fields are ripe and ready for workers to go and gather. There is no better time to go out and gather for the kingdom.
