Today we are going to talk about a biblical response to our ability to participate in our own government

Exiles who care

Jeremiah 29:7 ESV
7 But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.
Context: Israel being sent into captivity. False prophets encouraging a rebellious spirit. God desires peace and flourishing time for His people.
Principle: Seek the welfare of the “city”, for in it is your welfare.
1 Timothy 2:1–3 ESV
1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
Context: support in prayer life. Lifting up others as an intercessor
Principle: spiritual battle, weapons of our warfare are mighty through God!

How should a Christian vote?
"How I will vote in November:"
I will vote for the most pro-life candidate, because God hates the shedding of innocent blood  (Pr 6:16-17)
I will vote for the most pro-Israel candidate, because God blesses those who Bless Israel and curses those who curse them.  (Gen 12:3)
I will vote for the most pro-debt reduction candidate, because the borrower is servant to the lender. (Pr 22:7)
I will vote for the most pro-work candidate because God gave man the dominion mandate (Gen 1:28, Ecc. 5:18-19)
I will vote for the most Pro-Marriage candidate because God is for marriage as defined in Gen. 2:24
I will vote for the candidate who most closely believes government’s purpose is to reward good and punish evil, not call good “evil” and evil “good”.  (Rom 13)
I will vote based as close as I can on God’s Word.  (2 Tim 3:16)

Ambassadors of Christ

2 Corinthians 5:18–21 ESV
18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
