*HEBREWS 11*
Hebrews 11 is widely known as the "Faith Chapter" of the Bible.
It tells us what faith is (vv.
1-3) and what faith does (vv.
4-40).
Hebrews 11 serves as a "bridge" between the supposed conflict between James and Paul with reference to faith and its consequents.
It illustrates beautifully what James means when he writes, *"As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also"* (James 2:26).

(Who else laughed when God first promised that Abraham and Sarah would have a son?

What does the name "Isaac" mean?
For more on this aspect of Abraham's faith, see Romans 4:18-21.

Isaac's blessing of both Jacob and Esau (Genesis 27:26-29, 39-40) was given "by faith;" i.e., with reference to things "not seen as yet," but which Isaac considered to be certain, because of his trust in the Word of God.
