Don't Ignore that 700-Pound Safe in the Corner

Welcome to Wednesday Night #NewLifeLIVE!
We’re going to allow some time for everyone to get a chance to join us...
Real quick, let’s ask a question and see some responses:
As fall has fallen upon us, what is your favorite fall/winter or holiday dessert?
Also: What is something positive that has happened in your life in 2020? (Maybe due to being locked down?)
1 Corinthians 6:19–20 NKJV
19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Popular Mechanics Article: No One Knows How to Remove This 700-Pound Safe from a House. What Would You Try?
The caption below: If you can figure out how to get rid of it, whatever is in side is yours.
This article caught my attention so much this week - I just had to dig into it!
Attention all magicians, escape room junkies, movers, engineers, and locksmiths: It's your time to shine.
A Boston-area man has been struggling to open—or at least remove—a massive 700-pound safe from his new home, to no avail. (It's a beast. Check out the photos in this Boston Globe piece.) There has to be some way to remove this thing, and that's where you might come in.
You love riddles. So do we. Let's solve them together.
Homeowner Manoj Mishra found the hulking safe tucked away inside a closet in the house's second-floor master bedroom after he purchased it. "We don't know the password," Mishra wrote in a neighborhood Facebook group on Sept. 12, according to the Boston Globe. "But the lady who lived here used [to] own [a] gold store so your luck ... it's all yours. Pickup, sooner the better."
How do you open a safe when you don't know the combination? And how in the world do you remove it from a house with humble door frames and a challenging set of stairs when it looks like it's better suited for a bank than a home?
If you can figure it out, let us know what your method would look like, and we'll update this story to help out Mishra. Or you can try to contact him yourself.
Mishra's Facebook posts have prompted many people to come over and try to remove the 2.5-foot tall safe. So far, no one has been successful—not the woman who brought nine friends and a dolly, nor the movers and cleaners who wanted to bring ropes, ramps, and pieces of plywood to the site.
Brad Ford, a savvy test editor for Popular Mechanics who can fix literally anything, thinks Mishra needs a pully system, like the kind cartoon characters use to hoist a grand piano out of a window.
The columnist continues to explain that having the safe drilled is not as easy a thing as it might seem. It’ll be difficult the way this safe is made.
He also adds that though many safe companies have a master key or override key, the company that made this one (Mosler) operated from 1874 to 2001, when it went bankrupt. The company is known for its bank vaults, so you can expect maximum security.
So there’s this 700 lb. safe over here in the corner of the house you bought - that’s almost SURE to have something of great value in it.
You don’t know what wonders might be in there, and your goal is to get it open.
As I thought more and more about this different sort of story, it occurred to me that if that house is each of our lives, then that 700 lb. safe is like the power of the Holy Ghost.
We each have the house of our life. And we can decorate that house; spruce it up. We can make it extravagant to the eye. And we can do everything possible to try and make up for not having opened that safe…
…But at the end of the day… the house is still just a house, and there’s still a 700 lb. safe tucked away in it that holds treasures untold, that we’ve not dealt with.
It’s the power of the Holy Ghost, waiting for us to put in the effort to access it and operate in it!
And here’s what’s even better about the Spirit: there’s not some complicated process and ultra-hard path to be able to have and walk in the Holy Ghost in your life. You’re actually created for this and it’s the will of God!
Let’s pivot for a second.
1 Corinthians 6:19 NKJV
19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
Our body is a TEMPLE for the HOLY SPIRIT.
Whereas there was once a tabernacle where sacrifices were made and God’s presence rested at the mercy seat in the holy of holies, now, WE are that tabernacle.
The veil has been torn that the Holy Ghost might not just reside in a tent or building - but IN US!
And Galatians 5 talks extensively about WALKING in the Spirit:
Galatians 5:16 NKJV
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Galatians 5:25 NKJV
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
And so Paul is calling for us to a few things:
We are a temple of the Holy Ghost.
We are to receive that Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38).
We are then to WALK DAILY in it!
Praise the Lord!
God wants you to walk in His Spirit when you wake up in the morning! Not merely on a particularly powerful Sunday morning!
YOU are much like that house, and there is a safe full of treasures in your life, that if you don’t go to it and access it, you won’t behold what all is in it!
It is the will of God that you walk daily in the Spirit!
God can help you with that today!
Let’s pray!
