Leviticus 19:2 (NKJV)
2 “Give the following instructions to the entire community of Israel. You must be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.
1 Peter 1:16 (NLT)
16 For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”
Holy is an Attribute (or characteristic) of God
Holy, Holiness - Noun & Verb
In the Hebrew the word Holy is Quadowsh or Qodesh which means in english holiness or sanctity, sacred. is associated with loftiness, being raised or elevated.
But we tend to forget that holy is a divine (spiritual) concept in other words it is a God word descriptive of Himself.
In the Greek the word Holy, Holiness is Hagios - means properly, different (unlike), other (“otherness”) means “likeness of nature with the Lord
True Holiness is my likeness with the Lord
I need to exam my State of Being!
State Defined: noun, often attributive
1. a :mode or condition of being
b (1) : condition of mind or temperament
(2) : a condition or stag in the physical being of something
// insects in the larval state

Holiness has Benefits
Holiness creates intimacy with God and builds us spiritually
Psalm 15:1–3 (NLT)
1 Who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill?
2 Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts.
3 Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends.
Holiness makes us useful and effective for God’s purpose
2 Timothy 2:20–21 (NKJV)
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor.
21 Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.
Holiness in our lives causes those around us to glorify God
1 Peter 2:9–12 (NLT)
9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
10 “Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.”
11 Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls.
12 Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.
Holiness pleases God and produces fruit!
Ephesians 5:1–2 (NKJV)
1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.
2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
The only thing that can determine whether or not we will live a life of Holiness is us; what will be the State of our Being.
We choose, each and everyday, so I say to you and I implore you as Joshua said to Israel (Joshua 24:14 -15) Choose Whom You Will Serve.
