I’m not there yet v12-16

He is not where he was
He does not look back
He strains forward
This shows maturity
Quiet confidence & persistent focus

Watch the Walk v17-19

walk according to the godly example
don’t walk apart from it
we can’t read hearts
surface issues are never the point
Romans 14:21 ESV
It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.
Romans 14:23 ESV
But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.
evidence is evidence
we cannot only take people’s word (profession) and not their actions (walk)
John 13:35 ESV
By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
“The only gospel I liked was gospel music”
a walk is to somewhere
Matthew 7:13–14 ESV
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
We do not walk a way to be saved. We are saved and put into or on the way, yet there is a way
So since we cannot read hearts, we strive together as a community of faith; praying for, encouraging, and warning one another so that none miss out on salvation, or its blessings for today

Remember what we are waiting for v20-21

Our citizenship

NOT here, but in Heaven

Our expectation

Not our victory
careers
marriage
children
achievements
Not this or any other election
If you think the fate of the churches of Jesus is in any way dependent on who is in the White House, or even that there is a White House, you misunderstand the church and know nothing of church history
The Savior
Psalm 130:5 ESV
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;
Revelation 22:20 ESV
He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
