Repentance. †“Repentance” may represent only regret or remorse over a past thought or action (Heb. nāḥam; Gk. metamélomai), but in its fullest sense it is a term for a complete change of orientation involving a judgment upon the past and a deliberate redirection for the future (Heb. šûḇ “return, turn back”; Gk. metanoéō “have a change of heart, repent,” metánoia “repentance”). As such it is the subjective human experience involved in conversion (epistréphō).

Faith. †Human belief in and reliance upon the divine.
