2 Kings 8:16-29, 11-12 “Faithful God in a Faithless World”

The Conflict

8:16-18 - Ahab’s influence extends to Judah because of the marriage alliance.

11:1 - Athaliah, Ahab’s daughter ends up on the throne.

This is Satan’s work trying to put a stop to the promise of God.

We can expect this conflict, but it’s never the end.

God Keeps His Promise

In spite of what they deserve, God works to preserve and restore (11:2-4).

8:19 - This happened solely because God kept His promise.

Our disobedience can never change who God is.

Jesus is the ultimate proof of the faithfulness of God (2 Corinthians 1:20).

Involvement

God’s faithfulness shines, but we can’t miss the way this involves people.

Jehosheba and Jehoida both show that they are trusting God.

We have wonderful promises from God to hold on to.

We must trust God and take these steps whether we understand them all

or not.
