Jesus promises another comforter to all who love and obey Him.

Notes
Transcript
When the people you love have to go, you can find yourself asking what now. How do I or we proceed forward. Who can we call on for advice or assistance. Where can I find comfort for the separation and pain? Comfort, to ease the grief or trouble of someone; console.
Jesus is having a conversation with his disciples in the Upper Room. He shows them what humility looks like as he washes their feet. He warns them of His betrayal by Judas. He speaks Peter’s denial, but also shares the new commandment of love. But he now shares with them his second coming. He shares his promise, purpose of coming. He helps them to see that He and His Father are united as Father and Son. He opens the door of a new privilege in prayer for believers.
As Jesus speaks of His coming departure, and second coming, we find that He promise His disciples another comforter. Someone who will come along side them as He had done for several years now.

Conditions of Jesus Request

Love and Observance
If you have a sincere appreciation for Me.
If you will conform your actions and practices to my directions and instructions.
Jesus will ask. Jesus promise to ask. He will make the request on behalf of His disciples.
If we want Jesus to move one your behalf, it starts with love and observance.

Another Helper

What is a helper?
An advocate, a person who acts as a spokesperson or representative of someone else’s policy, purpose, or cause; especially before a judge in a court of law.
Jesus says he will send another, which suggest we have more than one.
Since Jesus is on His way to heaven, this may suggest that we have Him in advocating for us in heaven and the Holy Spirit advocating for us here on earth.
Who is this Helper?
The Spirit of Truth, John 16:13
The Holy Spirit in verse 26.
The world cannot receive the Spirit of Truth.
The world, people associated with a world system and estranged from God, because their values, beliefs, and morals are in rebellion to God’s.
They cannot receive, it cannot discern Him and even if it could it would refuse to acknowledge Him.
It neither sees or knows him.
It lacks perception
It has no knowledge of him. They have not experienced Him personally.
His duration and location. V. 16-17
He dwells/abides with you forever.
He will never leave the church.
He does this by His presence in Christ.
The comforter, Helper will be by your side to aid you and assist you. To teach, lead and guide you.
He will be in you.
This happened on the Day of Pentecost.
