2. Jesus serves in the true tabernacle (He 8.2b)

What is implied by true tabernacle?
What makes it the true tabernacle?
…the Lord pitched this tabernacle
In contrast, it was not man (the tent pitched by Moses, and the temple build by Solomon, and now Herod, where the sacrifices were currently ongoing)

C. Serving in the reality (He 8.3-5)

1. His role: to make offering (He 8.3)

2. Priests who serve the Law (He 8.4)

4. Conclusion: Jesus serves in the reality (not a shadow)

B. What’s the point or reason for this discussion?

1. Some say: “to stay away from the Old Covenant”

There are some who believe the problem of the Hebrews recipients was they were former Jews and were seeking to return to the Old Law.
This might be the case, but the theme is “hold fast” and “don’t drift away.” The drifting came from 1) apathy and 2) persecution. Why, if they are apathetic or persecuted, would they return to practicing the Old Law (MAYBE, if the Jews were the source of persecution, this might be the case…maybe).

2. The point of the letter: Jesus is Superior…Jesus is Sufficient…So Stay Connected

3. The superiority of Jesus as a High Priest helps keep us committed

To see what He has done, what He has accomplished.
