This series is for those of you that know… that the life you are living is not the life that you could live. Its not the life that God wanted for you. Some of you might even say that the life you are living is not even the life that I should live… I am off course or off track.
In many places in the Bible, God uses the illustration of a door to show what His will for our lives is.
Revelation 3:7–8 NLT
7 “Write this letter to the angel of the church in Philadelphia. This is the message from the one who is holy and true, the one who has the key of David. What he opens, no one can close; and what he closes, no one can open: 8 “I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me.
What God opens… no one not every you can close it. What God closes no one can open.
If you happen to be on a course that you know is not where God wants you to be, he still has that door open for you.
He knows what you are doing and he loves you all the more. Even when we are off, he opens a door for us to get back on track.

Finding the Right Door

Ephesians 5:15–16 NLT
15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.
You may have a lot of opportunities in front of you…
Here is where we will camp out...
Ephesians 5:17 NLT
17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
Some of you know what God’s will for your life is, but you just are not doing it.
Some of you don’t have a clue what God wants you to do. Should I marry him or him… this college or that college… this major or that major… this job or that job… this dog or that cat…
Understand what the Lords will is… This is a big question we get. People are always wondering what God wants them to do. We have to find the right door.
I don’t believe that God’s will for you is real narrow. It’s more like a zone. It’’s like walking through a door.
Gold ILL - talk about golfing… The holes are bordered by what’s called the rough and obstacles. But if you stay in the fairway, you can do pretty good.
Here is one side of the fairway … or the door frame.

God’s Moral Will

This is what God has already said in His Word

God will never tell you to do something that contradicts what he says in the Bible. You don’t have to ask him about committing adultery… lying… cheating… God will never tell you to leave your spouse for someone else. He has established his commands…
All the rules that God gives us are for our good… not his. He is not trying to be restrictive. Every command is for your good. He wants to provide and protect.
The other side is

God’s Sovereign Will

This is what God is doing in our world

It’s what God is doing that is bigger than us.
The purpose of our lives here on earth is not for God to be at our beck and call and come running to bless what we want him to bless. Life is not about us.
The purpose of life is for us to align ourselves with the purpose God has for us… God has given you a purpose, a calling and your life will never make sense until you align with his purposes.
If you want to find God’s will for your life, get in the zone between the Moral Will of God and his sovereign will. The only way you will know what his moral will or his sovereign will is without reading the Bible. You have to read the Bible.

The more I get to know the Moral Will of God and the Sovereign Will of God, the easier I will find God’s Will for my life.

Your life will make sense. I don’t need to convince you. Go ahead and life outside the moral and sovereign will of God you will be miserable and you will know…
ILL - Hit a bad ball… chip back onto the Fairway… hit a good shot and put for par.
This year has been crazy, so many of us need to change the course we are on. God knows where you need to be… look at this.
Psalm 139:16 NIV84
16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
While you were growing i the womb, God saw you. He wrote a plan for you in the book. You may think that you have written some chapters that God didn’t write, but he alway makes the last chapter fit.
It doesn't matte how far off course you get…
Romans 8:28 NLT
28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
it doesn’t matter what you have done… God will work it our for your good.

Re-directing Your Course

If you know that the life you are living is not the life you could live or should live, the more Grace God has for you…
Romans 5:20 NIV84
20 The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,
The more off track you are, the more God is trying to get you back on track.
This doesn’t give you a free pass to sin…
Romans 6:1–2 NLT
1 Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? 2 Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?
Heres my hope… I don’t want you to hear a faceless angry God that wants to beat you…
I want you to hear a gentle voice… come on back… walk through this open door I have for you.
Isaiah 30:21 NLT
21 Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.
Listen to God say… go this way...
When you hit your ball in the fairway, Golf is much easier and more fun. Same with life. So here is how we can make the course correction we need to make… like Seri re-calculating our course.
Here are some questions that will help…

1. What am I doing that I should not be doing?

When you answer this question, you are on the way back. What are you doing that you should not be doing?
Romans 12:2 NLT
2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
We get enamored with the world… shopping … The secularism of our world can drag you away. Let god transform you … then you can know God’s will.
Proverbs 4:25–27 NLT
25 Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. 26 Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. 27 Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.
You know what you need to get out of your life. It may not be something that’s really bad… it could be something good, but it’s not what god wants you to do. God’s not mad at you for doing what you are doing. As a matter of fact, he is right there pointing to the door he wants you to go through.

2. What am I not doing that I should be doing?

Even of you get yourself on a redirection morally, you live still will be missing something.
Jesus prayed for God’s kingdom come… He prayed for God’s will not his. When you know God’s will for you, the rest of the stuff of the world just kind of fades.
James 4:17 NLT
17 Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.
When you know what you are supposed to do and don’t do it… it’s sin.
1 Peter 4:2 NIV84
2 As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.
You live your life for the will of God. One of the most powerful prayers you can pray each day is simply asking God… What do you want me to do today?

3. Why not do it today?

Don’t procrastinate. Most of what I have told you today is just a reminder. You have been hearing the voice behind you.
Listen, if you constantly resist God correcting your course, God will allow things into your life to get you back.
Yo don’t want God to deal with you… listen to the quiet voice.
2 Corinthians 6:2 NLT
2 For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.
Listen, today is the day to make the course correction God wants you to make. How do you do that? Whats the next step.
Confess the fact that you have gone the wrong way.
1 John 1:9 NLT
9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
You get a fresh start.
Surrender your life to His control
Some of you need to make that step of Salvation… others, you just have gotten out in the rough… You can get back to God today.
Every head bowed and eye closed.
If you need to make a course correction, raise your hand…now put them down. pray for them. thank you for opening the door and leaving it open for me… be the Lord of my life and I am going to live my life to please you.
