Introduction

all kinds of ways that you can get in trouble.

3 important things to remember when we have trouble.

Pray

Know God’s unfailing love

Give Thanks to God.

Psalm 107 describes four situations

read one and talk about it a little, sing a song.

Read Psalm 107:4-9

I. Group 1 Psalm 107:4-9

A. The Trouble

- What is the trouble?

- no home, not enough food, not enough water.

- my grandmothers

B. The Prayer

- What do you do when you are in trouble?

- verse 6a, “they cried out to the Lord in their trouble.”

           

- my grandmother

- When things around you make you desperate, cry to the Lord!

C. The Answer

What happens?

- 6,7 - “he delivered them from their distress.”

- My grandmother - provided for her and her family.

D. The Response

- verse 8, “Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men…”

            - God’s unfailing love.

- must not forget to praise Him

II. Read Psalm 107:10-16

A. The Trouble

- What is the trouble?

- bondage of some kind, prison

- feeling trapped.

- why?

- rebellion against God.

B. The Prayer

- Sometimes we get ourselves in trouble and we have an idea that since I got myself in trouble, I should get myself out of trouble.

- Yet the psalmist did not see it that way.

- Psalm 107:13a, “Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble…”

C. The Answer

- 107: 13b-14, “…he saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness and the deepest gloom and broke away their chains.”

-         Jesus has forgiven our sins because He died on the cross.

-         God still answers the prayer for forgiveness.

D. The Response

vs. 15 - “Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.”

-         unfailing love

-         give thanks.

III. Read Psalm 107:17-22

A. The Trouble

What is the trouble?

-         affliction,

-         can’t eat

Why?

            - self centeredness, stubbornness

B. The Prayer

- Psalm 107:19a it says, “Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble.”

- we can admit our wrongdoing to God.

C. The Answer

- verse 19, 20

            - saved

- healed

- rescued

- God is like that. Even though we sin, God is ready to provide all we need in surprising ways if we look to Him.

D. The Response

- “Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love.”

- unfailing love.

- give thanks.

IV. Read Psalm 107:23-32

A. The Trouble

What is the trouble?

- natural forces.

- a storm, a flood.

B. The Prayer

- Psalm 107:28a

- What does it mean to cry out to the Lord?

- “Help!!!?”

- no where else to turn

- God is always there,

- God is always listening

- God will answer

- our helper, our shelter, our rock, our strength.

C. The Answer

- Psalm 107:28 we read that “he brought them out of their distress.

- what God is like.

- does not play games, does not hurt us deliberately, does not ignore us.

- God who answers prayer.

D. The Response

- “give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.”

            - unfailing love

            - give thanks.

Conclusion

- What is the trouble you are in?

- God is able to help.

- ask Him

- Thank Him when He helps.
