What is a worldview?

“A person’s worldview is his operating system.” (Madsen)
“The set of lenses through which you see the world around you. It’s a web of habit informing beliefs that help you make sense of all your experiences” (Institute 360)
“What is a worldview? As the word itself suggests, a worldview is an overall view of the world. It’s not a physical view of the world, but rather a philosophical view, an all-encompassing perspective on everything that exists and matters to us.
A person’s worldview represents his most fundamental beliefs and assumptions about the universe he inhabits. It reflects how he would answer all the “big questions” of human existence: fundamental questions about who and what we are, where we came from, why we’re here, where (if anywhere) we’re headed, the meaning and purpose of life, the nature of the afterlife, and what counts as a good life here and now. Few people think through these issues in any depth, and fewer still have firm answers to such questions, but a person’s worldview will at least incline him toward certain kinds of answers and away from others.” (Ligonier Website- What is a Worldview? James Anderson)
“It is a set of beliefs that determine how he thinks, feels, and acts. More concretely, we can say that a worldview is someone’s answer to 5 ultimate and unavoidable questions.
(1) What kind of God exists, if any?
(2) What is the origin and nature of the universe?
(3) How can we know what we know?
(4) What is the nature and destiny of man?
(5) What is the difference between right and wrong?
These questions are ultimate, because the answers given to them make all the difference in a person’s life; and they are unavoidable, because everyone thinks, feels, and acts on the basis of deeply held motives and grounds. In other words, we do what we believe, no less than we do what we are. Thus, everyone is living out some worldview, whether he likes it or not and whether that worldview tracks with reality or not. “
(Madsen)

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
