To Relinquish

Definition - Voluntarily cease to keep / to give up

We talked about how God is the primary holder of power

- Since we know God holds all power this means all parts of God entirely hold all power (Father Son and Spirit)

-What did we learn about who gives his power to?

- God bestows power to those who are weak and call out to Him

*Reread Isaiah 40:28-31

- Tell me the story of humanity

- (Whole, broken, sinful, spiral)

- Humanity as a whole was broken falling into a spiral of sin

- God saw all of humanity crying out for a savior and as the primary holder of power bestowed humanity with a portion of His power in the form of a fully God fully man savior (John 3:16)

-Lets take a step back - Do we fully comprehend the gravity of that verse?

- Back to the story of humanity

- Humanity rejects God

-God still gives Himself up to mend the very bond we broke

- We have the one person who holds all the power in existence, the God who in Genesis 1 literally formed existence with his words, chasing after a lowly creation that continues to spit in His face and betray Him

and for that very creation he relinquished His son

God Relinquished (def) a portion of His power (His Son) because humanity was visibly weary and could not save itself

Bring it back one last time

If God sent a portion of his power (Jesus) to the earth what does that mean?

Jesus is the embodiment of God’s power

God’s overwhelming power has come to the Earth

The same power that spoke reality into existence was walking around shoulder to shoulder with people just like us

So what does that mean for us?
