2 Kings 9-10 “True Change”

Stop the Evil

9:1-10 - Jehu was given the kingship and a mission that went along with it.

Jehu had to act boldly based on God’s Word.

Jehu correctly saw that it was the sin of Ahab’s house that disrupted the peace (9:22).

Jehu’s complete destruction of Ahab’s house is a picture of what our attitude should be toward sin.

Pull out the Root

Sin must be addressed at the deepest level in order to change.

10:18-28 - Jehu completely eradicated Baal worship from Israel.

We must be willing to take steps to address deeper levels of sin.

Replace with the New

The victorious statement of 10:28 is followed by sadness in 10:29.

We cannot turn away from one evil and replace it with another.

Change isn’t just based on what’s gone, but what comes (Ephesians 4:28).

Real repentance means to turn away from sin and wholeheartedly to Jesus.
