Intro: The missing wallet- i have to build a foundation for keeping up with things.

Foundation

Luke 6:46–49 NKJV
“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”
Lots of things need a foundation structurally to keep shape.
Buildings have different types of foundations to hold the weight of the building to keep it stable
Now listen i’m not a builder and even when i tried to look up you tube videos and listen to guys talk about foundation It was way over my head.
But Jesus was a carpenter so I am sure he new some stuff about foundation.
When the verse
Matthew 13:55 NKJV
Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas?
The word in Greek here is more better translated Craftsman or builder.
The majoirty of homes in Israel were constructed with Stone. It is possible the to us in english carpenter would be more relatable as a transtlated word because we build our houses with wood. Trees where actually very scarce in that region where Jesus grew up.
There was a enourmous rock quarry halfway inbetween Nazareth and Zippori and Zippori was devleoping at a rapid rate under the reign of Herod Antipas and would eventually be called the Jewel of all Galilee by Jewish Historian Josephus. This huge project would have included all the stone masons in the area including even Joseph and maybe Jesus.
Houses in Ancient Nazareth were made with a rough stone foundation and mud bricks made on the site.
This would explain why here in these verses Jesus talks about foundation and in the verse where he talks to Peter and says on this Rock i will build my Church.
Jesus understood Rocks.
Jesus calls himself the stone that the builders rejected.
Mark 12:10 NKJV
Have you not even read this Scripture: ‘The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone.
Jesus calls Peter the Rock on which he will build his church
Matthew 16:18 NKJV
And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
God of course knew this just go to your you version app and look up Rock and you will see all kinds of stuff
Psalm 62:2 NKJV
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.
Psalm 89:26 NKJV
He shall cry to Me, ‘You are my Father, My God, and the rock of my salvation.’
Psalm 95:1 NKJV
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
David knew that God was a was a Rock! And possibly a foreshadowing to our Savior being a stonemason.
I don’t know anything about foundation. Don’t ask me to help you start the foundation for a house or a building some of you manly men out there would be able to tell me all kinds of stuff.
I know about pier and beam foundation. And i know that just as this scripture says if it floods it can wash out a foundation or move the ground underneath the weight bearing foundation so much to the point that it un-levels the house.
I’m sure you Tim the Tool man Taylor guys are all over this. I mean i know what one of those leveler tools do but that’s the extent of it. I can tell you something is crooked or off balance.
When it comes to make up i would like to thing i know a few things. However i don’t wear it a lot.
Make-up foundation- to set the different colors of a face. Now Liora is a pro at all kinds of make up and she does all these crazy cool eye looks and mascara and eyeshadow. She can make colors stick to her eye lids i can’t do. I don’t do very good with creating a foundation on my eye lids to get that sutff to stick the way it is supposed to.
So my question for you is
What is your foundation?
Foundation is the basis or ground work of anything.
Almost everything has a starting point of something to build off of. Most things have a frame and you build the frame and the frame holds the item togheter.
When you learn as a child to start to read you start with a foundation of your ABCs and 123s. You don’t start with the most complicated thing there is you have to start with the basics.
Anything you learn you have to learn the basics.
Most anything you need to learn
The foundation of our faith is What we believe.
I posted earlier in the week on one sermon about what a fool is and a wise person is
Proverbs 3:7 NKJV
Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.
The sermon said a fool is always in a hurry and takes short cuts to get quick results, they feel their ideas are best and are not teachable.
The wise person is slow and does things right and is teachable
In this example it shows, how it is wise to build a foundation. Wise and smart people take the time to learn they think before they speak they do things the right way because its the right way they learn from others to get better at what they do

Leveling the Foundation

You are foundation is going to be level if you do what Jesus says. If you follow the word of God.
Well lets just look at the things Jesus says right before he says:
First he heals dieseas, unclean spiirts, and then he just heals them all.
Luke 6:19 NKJV
And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all.
Funny story right before he heals this whole multitude he gets tagged by the paraphrases for healing a man with a withered hand on the sabbbath and the very next day he heals ery body:)
Then Jesus teaches the following:
The Beatitudes
Love your enemies
Judge not and you shall not be judged
Bear good fruit because you will be known by it
Luke 6:47 NKJV
Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like:
So to be level
“ Whoever comes to Me” We have to go to Jesus- How Pastor Deadra?
prayer, church, bible study, quiet times, meditation, listening to worship, listening to sermons, Spending times with your Savior. What does that mean to you Jesus is all about being peronsal, and intimate with you.
“Hears my sayings” - Hear the teaching of the Lord the Word of God there is a diffrence between listening and hearing
“ Does them” There are actions to commandments. We don’t follow God because it’s easy or we enjoy it we do it because we love him.
Christianity works if you work it.

Cracks in your Foundation

Over time Sin Cracks foundation and you may need foundation repair.
Tonight you man need to call on Jesus the stonemason to fix your cracks to level you out.
You might be stuck in habitual sin.
You might be stuck in guilt and cant repent
You might be stuck in some belief system that part of the bible doesn’t apply to me or isn’t true let me assure you it is all true.
Proverbs 21:2 NKJV
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts.
I used to believe the world worked a certian way. If i could do it or figure it out you should be able to do it to so what was wrong with you. There are something if you don’t have the foundation you cannot just figure it out. The man who built his house without foundation it had great ruin.
You might have been hurt by someone else and need healing and forgivnesss.
There are so many things that can crack our foundation.
Some people get so cracked and so unlevel that they completely loose the Rock. They fall, they get mad at God, they deny their faith. they change to a false religion which is any religion that Jesus Christ is not Lord and Savior. They get lead astray by demonic powers and fall into deep dark pits of addiciton and unfortunatly we all know people who don’t make it back out and lose literally their lives.
We have to get the cracks fixed we have to level ourselves out.
