Introduction: Names are important. Names help us distinguish one person from another of the same gender, build, and race. Not only do names classify a title given to a person, but in the Bible, names often reflect the characteristics of a person like Jacob the trickster. So what name is the Creator of the universe differentiate Him? In his commissioning to deliver the children of Israel from bondage, Moses asked, “What I should tell them when they ask, “What is His name?”” Yahweh is the name given to Moses.
Moses went before Pharaoh and told him that Yahweh said to let His people go. In response the Egyptian king said, “Who is the LORD (Yahweh), that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the LORD, nor will I let Israel go” (Ex 5:2). In Exodus 6:3, the LORD told Moses that by His name Yahweh He was not known to the patriarchs. Now, through the plagues the LORD let not just Pharaoh, but the entire known world would know who He is.

5 I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, And on Your wondrous works.
People are not able to comprehend His MAJESTY AND WORKS. He is so far beyond us.
The Bible asks, “Can you fathom the depths of God or discover the limits of the Almighty? They are higher than the heavens—what can you do? They are deeper than Sheol—what can you know?” (Job 11:7–8).
Yahweh is so awesome that we cannot comprehend His MAJESTY AND WONDROUS WORKS,
I CAN’T UNDERSTAND HOW HE SPOKE THIS WORLD INTO EXISTENCE.
I CAN’T UNDERSTAND HOW HE MADE MADE OUT THE DUST OF THE EARTH.
YET, we can recognize it BY PONDERING.

There is not a sorrow too deep for Him to remove. There is not a problem too big for Him to solve. There is not a soul too sinful for Him to save.

David showed his determination to extol or lift the LORD to His rightful position. David recognized that the LORD is God and King, and he must elevate Him to the level to where He belongs. David voiced his intentions. He said, “I will . . . praise Your name forever and ever” (v 1b). The word “praise” is barak in the Hebrew, which basically means to kneel or bow down or to bless.
The psalmist declared that the LORD, Yahweh, is great. The magnitude or extent of Yahweh is beyond comparison. Who can measure up to the LORD? He commands our respect and awe because his works or deeds are so weighty. No one can compare to His prestige, dignity, rank, standing, and authority. The psalmist declared, “For the Lord is a great God, a great King above all gods.” (Ps 95:3). No idol can measure up. According to the psalmist “He is feared above all gods” (Ps 96:4).
The word’s usage in this passage means to speak well of God. The king testified that he would continuous speak great things of God’s name.
How will the psalmist achieve this goal? Paul helps to answer this question when he commanded, “Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks” (1 Th 5:16-8). Basically, the apostle is say that when one becomes convinced of the LORD’s greatness due to His deliverance, power, presence, and prestige, one cannot help but to declare, commend, praise and boast about Him.
Love for family, city, and nation are honorable, but God must be lifted above all of them. He is greater than any noble, elected or appointed official, judge, lord, or king. Why? He is Lord of all lords and king of all kings.

4 One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts.
TELL HIS MIGHTY ACTS
In Exodus 9:16, the LORD said to Pharaoh, “But indeed for this [purpose] I have raised you up, that I may show My power [in] you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth. When the LORD displayed His attributes before His people so that they may see His greatness, the goal is not just for them, but for the whole world to know how great Yahweh is.
He ignited the flame of the sun
He positioned the stars in the universe
He ordained the orbit of the moon
He rotates the world on its axis
He filled the oceans with water
He commands the direction of the wind

RECONCILED
Then all the peoples of the earth will see that you are called by Yahweh’s name, and they will stand in awe of you” (De 28:10).
6 Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts, And I will declare Your greatness.

The psalmist desired that this message of God’s greatness to extend from one generation to another. He said that they shall declare thy GREATNESS (

7 They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness, And shall sing of Your righteousness.
In verse 7, he said, “They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness and shall sing of thy righteousness.” The sons of Korah had the same sentiment when they declared, “I will make Your name to be remembered in all generations; Therefore, the people shall praise You forever and ever” (Ps 45:17).
