Are You Welcoming? Romans 14:1-4

· Acceptance—vv. 1–2. Don’t be critical of those weak in the faith—Rom. 15:1.
· Affection—v. 3. Don’t be critical of those who may not eat certain foods—1 Cor. 9:22.
· Attitude—v. 4. Let God be the judge—Matt. 7:1–5; James 4:12.

Are You Considerate? Romans 14:5-9

· Decision—vv. 5–6. It is not the day we worship, but the Lord we worship that is important. After Christ arose, most Christians kept Sunday as their day of worship—1 Cor. 16:2. Sabbath keeping was for the Jews only.
· Dedication—vv. 7–8. “We are not our own bosses to live or die as we ourselves might choose. Living or dying we follow the Lord. Either way we are his”—LB.
· Dedication—v. 9. Christ died to be Lord of those who have died and those who are alive—John 11:25–26.

Are You Judging? Romans 14:10-12

· Criticism—v. 10. Why judge others? We will be judged by God—2 Tim. 4:1; Rom. 2:16.
· Confession—v. 11. Every knee shall bow—Phil. 2:9–11. Bow willingly now or bow by force later.
· Control—v. 12. We are responsible to God—1 Peter 4:4–5; 2 Cor. 5:10. A book of remembrance is written—Mal. 3:16.

Are You A Stumbling Block?Romans 14:13-23

· Problem—v. 13. Live so no one will stumble over your faith—1 John 2:10.
· Persuaded—vv. 14–15. Eating meat is not wrong unless it causes others to stumble. Eating meat offered to idols—1 Cor. 8:4–8.
· Plan—v. 16. Refrain from eating or drinking anything that may bring criticism—1 Cor. 9:27.
· Practice—vv. 17–18. God’s kingdom is not concerned with what we eat, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.
· Peace—vv. 19–20. Follow the things that bring peace. “All food is good to eat. But it is wrong to eat anything that will make someone fall into sin”—NLT.
· Purity—vv. 21–22. Do nothing that opposes your conscience. Self-denial necessary—Luke 9:23. Crucify self daily—Gal. 5:24.
· Peril—v. 23. Disobeying your conscience is sin—James 4:17
