I. Introduction

In preparing for my sermon today the message really touched my heart I hope and pray in touches yours.

A. Let the Church awake to her calling to train the feeblest of her members to know that Christ counts upon every redeemed one to live wholly for His work. This alone is true Christianity, and is full salvation.

Andrew Murray. Working for God!: A Sequel to Waiting on God!.

B.Great Commission

1. Telling the good news

2. Sharing Jesus

3.Knocking on doors

4. Turn to Scripture

a. Isaiah 6:8

Isaiah 6:8 NASB95
8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

b. Acts 1:8

Acts 1:8 NASB95
8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

c. Matthew 28:16–20

Matthew 28:16–20 NASB95
16 But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

D. Go Make Teach

E. Pray

II.Go

A.Our first reaction to go is something we should do Go.

1. Like go knock on doors

2. Go to the store

3. Go to church

B. Remember Jesus makes things simple in his commands.

1. Gave just one rule in the Garden of Eden

2. Two rules

a. Love the lord your God

b. Love your neighbor.

3. made go easy as well. Greek translation

a.‘to travel, to journey, to be on one’s way.’

b. as we are going

1. Luke 19:36
Luke 19:36 NASB95
36 As He was going, they were spreading their coats on the road.
2. Luke 9:57
Luke 9:57 NASB95
57 As they were going along the road, someone said to Him, “I will follow You wherever You go.”

II. Make

as our college baseball team left my university campus for an out-of-state game, we raised quite a ruckus from the back of the bus. We had departed as scheduled, but the problem was our starting pitcher for that day was late. Consequently, he missed the bus.
“Coach,” we complained, “Moon-man’s not here. What are we going to do?”
After twenty minutes of listening to our noise and appeals, our coach calmly rose to address the situation.2 “Fellas,” he said, “I learned a long time ago: you play with who you got right now.”1

A. Our disciple making is a direct result of our personal discipleship

1.Hebrews 13:20–21

Hebrews 13:20–21 NASB95
20 Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, 21 equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

2. Ephesians 4:8–13

Ephesians 4:8–13 NASB95
8 Therefore it says, When He ascended on high, He led captive a host of captives, And He gave gifts to men.” 9 (Now this expression, “He ascended,” what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.) 11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.

B. That reality is what frames the Great Commission—the call to reclaim the nations.

1. Matthew 28:19

Matthew 28:19 NASB95
19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

2. Mark 13:10

Mark 13:10 NASB95
10 “The gospel must first be preached to all the nations.

3.A nation under God is a nation under His authority, under His power, and under His judgment.

If a nation is to be a “nation under God,” it must be a worshipping nation. Genuine worship is the offering of one’s self to God. For the Christian, it is accepting the gift of a new life in God through Jesus Christ, which is the result of repentance and faith. God is not to be used but to be served.

Edward L. R. Elson, “Worship in the Life of the Nation,” Christianity Today (Washington, D.C.: Christianity Today, 1956), 11.

4.Much is being said these days in religious circles about the “exploitation” of religion as a weapon of ideological conflict. In the highest sense, pure religion is not to be “exploited” for anything except God’s purposes. God is to be worshipped and served for God’s sake. Righteousness is to be sought for righteousness’ sake. Nothing in Jesus’ teaching is more emphatic than that. But is it not true that a nation spiritually weak in our kind of world is also ideologically vulnerable? It therefore follows that a people constantly strengthened and renewed by the worship of God is better equipped for an age of sharp ideological warfare. When God is sought for God’s sake, and righteousness is served for righteousness’ sake, the nation becomes a citadel of strength for free men.

Edward L. R. Elson, “Worship in the Life of the Nation,” Christianity Today (Washington, D.C.: Christianity Today, 1956), 11.

III. Teach

A. Proverbs 22:6

Proverbs 22:6 NASB95
6 Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.

1.As new disciples we are Children

2. Even the disciples ask Jesus to teach them to pray and he instructed them.

B. Acts 2:42–47

Acts 2:42–47 NASB95
42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. 44 And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; 45 and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. 46 Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.

1. disciples teaching were that of Jesus

2. The cool thing is that the same Greek word used for teaching here is the same Greek word that was used in the great commission.

3. need to do it simply.Make church simple the Great commission is simple.

IV. Conclusion

In Adrian Rogers sermon Its a descision that determines destiny he shared a story of him doing the great commission. He was out one day going along the street in Pensacola Florida he approach two ladies and the Lord said make disciples share the gospel. One accepted the Lord but the other said I am not ready to make that choice. He tried again. she still refused satan working at his best she said she wasn’t ready. She didn’t realize that to not accept Christ was to reject him. He took one more chance. He said shake my hand and will go. She said she shake his hand. He then proceeded to tell her shake my right hand if you want to accept Jesus. shake my left if you want to take satan and damnation. He said you said you would shake my hand. She put her hands behind her back and backed away. We wrestle with the same thing as a Christian. We are to work wholly For his work. Satan battles us to not complete the great commission. We have the same choice when we became a Christian as this girl did and undecision which is the devil play ground is a choice. If we don't share the Gospel because we are not ready we have made a decision to allow are opportunity to slip through our fingers.

A. There are two people out there today God asking you to take the left or the right hand.

1. one of them is the girl that accepted Christ and now must go make and teach.which means the ball is in your court you have two hands to shake still one to share Christ and one to not.

2. Your the other girl who has heard go make and teach and decided your not ready.

3. I challenge you today for both to take the right hand and not the left.
