The worst in us

Something about an election season that brings out the worst in us
++Conservative become more legalistic
++Liberals more accommodating
++Moderates somewhere in the middle
Each group claiming a biblical worldview

What is a Biblical worldview?

Biblical worldview (Christian worldview) refers to the framework of ideas and beliefs through which a Christian individual, group or culture interprets the world and interacts with it.
Wikipedia
A biblical worldview is based on the infallible Word of God. When you believe the Bible is entirely true, then you allow it to be the foundation of everything you say and do.
Focus on the Family
The Barna Research Group determined that only 4 percent of Americans had a “biblical” worldview.
When George Barna, who has researched cultural trends and the Christian Church since 1984, looked at the “born- again” believers in America, the results were a dismal 9 percent.
Barna /Focus on the Family
These were the questions.
++Do absolute moral truths exist?
++Is absolute truth defined by the Bible?
++Did Jesus Christ live a sinless life?
++Is God the all-powerful and all-knowing Creator of the universe, and does He still rule it today?
++Is salvation a gift from God that cannot be earned?
++Is Satan real?
++Does a Christian have a responsibility to share his or her faith in Christ with other people?
++Is the Bible accurate in all of its teachings?
According to George Barna analysis, 91% of Christians in America were shown to have a non-biblical worldview.

What do we as followers of Christ believe?

There Three Basic Worldviews
++Naturalism- _Nothing exist other than the physical universe._
++Theism- _God is the source of everything that exist, but is different form creation._
++Pantheism- _Everything that exist IS God. ( oneness) (inner peace/harnessing peace w/ the universe)_

Every Christian have at least two worldviews

At some point we must face the notion all followers of Christ have two worldviews.
Experience is the Teacher
++The first teacher is life
Worldview is formed by
++Culture
++Education
++Religious Beliefs
++Emotions
++The Bible
1. Culture—The civilization that he lives in, his society, value system, customs, arts, and his heritage with all of its traditions, traits, and ideals.
2. Education—What he has been taught as truth. Please understand that you and I are a product of what we read, watch, and subject our minds to.
3. Religious beliefs—What he has been taught as matters of faith.
4. Emotions—How he feels about a matter can be so strong that it outweighs any other logic or truth!
5. The Bible—Belief in God’s written Word and adherence to its teachings!

Experience is the Teacher
The first teacher is life
++The second teacher an encounter with God

We spend much our life in a battle between these two worldviews

Galatians 5:17 KJV 1900
17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
