Unexpected Grace

1 Timothy 1:12–17 ESV
12 I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service, 13 though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, 14 and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 15 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. 16 But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. 17 To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
We are put our trust into something everyday. Whether that is trust in our car tires to not go flat. Trust in our phone to not stop working when we need it most. Trust in the food we just bought at burger king to not give us food poisoning even though there is a reason why they can do deals like $1 for ten nuggets.
But we also trust things much more important such as our government to keep us safe from dangers outside our country. We trust our senior pastor to prepare every week so that he may have a Word for us to hear from God’s Word. We trusted our parents as we were growing up and even now to support us.
We all have experienced that trust to be broken. Those burger king nuggets gave you a upset stomach. That thousand dollar iPhone quit working causing you to call Apple and they gave you a refurbished iPhone 4 to replace your iPhone X. You may be in here today and do not trust your parents due to events in the past. We lose trust in friends, family, and things all around us, but what I want to look at tonight is a truth you and I can trust tonight and we can always trust that this is true.
