Matthew 14:22-33

22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. 23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. 24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. 27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. 28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? 32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. 33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

According to Romans 1:17 the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, For the Just shall live by faith .
we should live from faith to faith this is how God plan it to be.
the next level of faith is confidence , the level in which Jesus walked, we need to walk in a confidence zoneGod wants us to living a fearless and faith filled lifestyle in which confidence reigns, but first we need to learn how to overcome fear
F.E.A.R is an acronym for - False Evidence Appearing Real.
In the book of Matthew 14- 22:33 we read how Peter walk on the water .
Peter had a taste of the confident level he steps out of the boat to walk on the water with Jesus , however seeing the winds blow Peter became fearful and began to sink
.Peter was a fisherman by trade so I’m sure he seen the winds blowing and rough waters and wasn’t afraid
Peter was plagued with the same fear that try’s to overcome us.The Lack of confidence
In His fear Peter cried out Lord Save Me , the scripture reads that Immediately Jesus came to His Aid.
Jesus say why little faith why do you doubt -in other words Peter why to you lack confidence why did you waver, hesitate.
A. Peter second guess Jesus which cause him to waver and stop himself from walking in the confident zone.
We have many times read this verse and apply it to never take your eyes off of Jesus which is correct never take your eyes off of Jesus ,however Peter did something that the other disciples didn’t even dare try.
keep in mind that he was the only one who got out of the boat to attempt the impossible. The other disciples just stared as he stepped out in faith. Remember, Jesus rebuked him for having little faith—not for having no faith
Deliverance from all our Fears
In Psalms 34:4 David makes this declaration, I sought the Lord and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears
David sought the Lord
a. The Lord Heard Him
b. The Lord Delivered Him from all of his fears
Deliverance is needed when fear is involved
so here we have two great men Peter and David that had fear in their lives there is nothing to be ashamed about if you have fear in your life, what did Jesus do when Peter cried out saved me Lord, IMMEDIATELY Jesus came to his aid.
when we cried out in fear Jesus well IMMEDIATELY COME TO OUR AID.
Fear is a state of being- its an ongoing condition of being afraid. We live in a fearful or fear filled world
there is always something to makes us afraid, fear is always present however we need to do is very simple something that Jesus said when satan came to tempted him ,
Jesus quoted the word it is written that God has not given me the spirit of fear.
it is written if God be for me who can be against me.
Proverbs 18:21 theres is life and death in the tongue what you say today well manifest tomorrow.
David sought the Lord, the Lord heard Him, and then delivered Him from all fears, He was delivered from a state of being afraid. that means it is possible to be fearless in a fearful world.
It is possible to live a faithful, faith filled life of trust in God.
The only way to be delivered from fear is by trusting in the Lord,
Jesus wants us to have faith in Him and to not doubt so he can bring us into an experience where instead of being spooked by fear---we spook fear
through fear is present The Lord is present also therefore as an act of our will we can choose not to be afraid but trust the Lord.
He is Lord over all he is the most high God
Psalms 91:13 declares Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder, the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Here are three metaphors
The Lions fear the serpents fear the dragons fear
The Lions Fear
it is said that just the roar of the lion can paralyze its prey. the lion lets out its fierce roar when it is about to spring on it prey, leaving its victims helpless
1 Peter 5:8 reads the adversary walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.
thus the metaphor of the roaring lion pertains to our hearing - the lions fear of what we hear.
Just as faith comes by hearing , so too fear comes by way of hearing negativity or bad news.
We must fill our hearing with God Says.
when we speak the Word of God faith filled words pervade our thoughts thereby dethroning fear and establishing the reign of the lion of the tribe of Judah over our lives.
The Serpents Fear.
The second metaphor used in Psalms 91:13 is the adder.
adder is a serpent- the serpent has a way of catching us unawares
usually coiled up and hidden from plain view, we are not aware of its presence until it is ready to strike.
the adder fear is the fear of what we see.
That is what happened to Peter in Matthew 14:29-31
He was walking on the water and saw the winds blowing thus he began to sink.
Just prior to him walking on water Peter heard Jesus say come that single word power packed with faith had the ability to paint such a picture in Peters spirit he believed he could walk on water and he did.
We must speak to ourselves the promises of Gods word, in so doing faith filled God- pictures are painted in our spirits, They portray who God says we are and what He says we can do, blacking out and disabling the effect of the serpents fear of what we see.
The Dragons Fear
The dragon is a mythical monster a fictional creature a Phantom.
The dragons fear is the fear of what is not really there. it is not based on something real but imagined.
Fear such as this often grows in us.
The dragon fear can be likened to the devil in the book of Genesis. He started out as a serpent but by the time we reach the book of Revelation the devil has become a dragon.
A state of fear does not start with the dragons fear.
it begins with hearing something
than seeing something
and ends with imagining something that is really not there
2 Corinthians 10:5 cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
we need to understand that Jesus has already defeated fear and He will help us to overcome the fear that wants to come into our lives.
Fear of People
Fear of Rejection
Fear of Failure
if we need just place them on the altar hand them over to God so we can finally be set free.
Fear of People
Fear has many faces one face that fear wears is the fear of people .has to what there going say or do sometimes fear comes when you feel lead to witness to someone
We need to do what Peter did He Got out of the Boat
Fear of Rejection
we shouldn’t need to worry about being rejected
If God be for you who can be against you.
Many fear rejection that your not good enough
your not worthy enough
But God says your the apple of his eye
The Key to overcoming rejection is to love like you never been hurt
renew your mind
mediate on the word.
Fear of Failure
God is able to keep us from failure if were are kin to listen to the Holy Spirit. Failure is never final. Life is comprised of a series of beginning again.
The very first lesson of life is that we begin again with God.
God has given us everything that we need.
Proverbs 24:16 for a just man falls seven times he rises up again
we must be resolved not to quit before the end.
We must not put a period where there should be a comma.
We must learn to put a period where it belongs, while understanding when God is writing our book, that period simply means the end of a chapter. The book is still being written, therefore we can get up again and win
two things helps us overcome the fear of failure
what we believe who we trust
first we must believe there is no failure in God
second we must ensure that our faith is anchored in the fact there is no failure in God.
To fail would mean that God failed
there is no failure in God
Gods word is unalterable
we need not to fear
He is in control
we have the victory
its at the end of the book
we win.
Fear is not from God. If it stops you from doing what the Lord encourages you to do, then it has a grip on you that you must break. You can’t do it on your own. There is only one thing that casts out all fear, and that is the love of God.
Faith is developed by meditating on God’s Word. Fear is developed by meditating on Satan’s lies. Such fearful meditation is called “worrying.” Don’t do it!
The Word of God is the sword of the Spirit. Use it to fight Satan every time he comes against you. Hold up your shield of faith and quench all of his fiery darts. Speak words of faith and fear will depart.
