Intro

We all know, “Bad things happen to good people.” This has become a question that has been passed down through the ages.
Solomon does not give us an answer, he only repeats this conundrum.
It seems all around us, evil is rewarded and yet righteousness is not.
So people tend to become over excessive in either direction.
Today Solomon teaches us that excessiveness will not solve the problem,
the real problem is sin, and we all are infected by it

Excessiveness (15-18)

The wicked seem to prevail
we wonder why the wicked do well while we suffer
Devil has no reason to go after them
Excessive righteousness
overly demanding on self
man in central america who puts himself on a cross every Easter
placing burdens on you that are never intended
over zealous
Pharisee ism, Legalism
Excessive wickedness
both are bad
lead to destruction
we all sin that is true
license and over excessiveness
Christian life is not meant to be a burden but a joy

Everyone sins (19-24)

There is no one who never sins
being excessivly righteous does not keep you from sinning
Romans 3:10 as it is written, “THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE;
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Best to remember that everyone sins
we like to point it out in others while ignoring our own
let me call out your sin, but don’t you dare call out mine
Solomon tested all this with wisdom
he saw that no one is perfect, not even himself
riches don’t make you perfect
wisdom does not make you perfect
really, nothing will

Help Each Other (25-29)

Context
writing to mostly men
women at this time could not read
understand what is is and his not saying
is not
woman are evil and horrible
Is saying that we need each other
men need other men to talk to, to work on problems together with
women need other women to do the same
All men sin, all women sin
though God created us upright, to be set apart for Him
we failed, we sinned, we were in rebellion against him
Help each other
Men, gather, pray together, study Bible together
Women, gather, pray together, study Bible together
it is good to lean on your spouse, but you need others to help you
men need men, women need women
Godly wisdom says to find others who will help you, guide you, walk with you down the road of life
That is one reason being apart of a church body is so important
surrounded by men and women who have walked that journey too and want to help and be helped.

Conclusion

we have all, and continue to sin
no amount of over zealousnes will take that away
yet going the opposite way certainly will not either
God being a holy God
though He created us to be holy
we sinned and defiled that holiness
so, we could not have the relationship he created us to have
his love yet, did not fail us
he sent his son, Jesus to die in our place
so we could be redeemed to him
Our price was paid by him
if only we would believe in him
We maybe sinners, but God has offered us forgiveness through Jesus Christ
