Introduction
The promises of God are unlike any promise another being can make. They are uniquely trustworthy to the point that we should sooner doubt the laws of nature than the promises of God. He is both more trustworthy and more powerful than any force that would set itself against him, to the point that those who seek to forfeit his plans are often sovereignly used to fulfill them in the most unexpected ways. God attaches his promises to covenants that tie him in loving kindness to the person he made the promise to, while also putting the responsibility on them to believe him and remain faithful. This reflects the purpose that God created all people with: that we would reflect his character and spread his image to the uttermost parts of creation.
Although Abraham’s faithfulness had wavered over the years, it had become more solid as he saw God remaining steadfast to his promises even in the most doubtful circumstances.
