Happy birthday to Bro. Deo Secolles
It’s THURSDAY the 6th of August
Welcome back to the verse by verse study of the gospel of John
Yesterday right here at “The Message” we looked into the events that took place when Peter denied/disowned [ipinagkaila, itinanggi], and from it we learned that:
I WILL NEVER DISOWN MY LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST
While all these was taking place, Jesus was being questioned by Annas [the former high priest]
Let’s see what was going on inside— Open your Bible to JOHN 18:19-24 where you can find what happened when the high priest questioned Jesus— once you get there, type Amen!
SIN TO CONFESS, PROMISES TO CLAIM, ATTITUDE TO CHANGE, COMMANDS TO KEEP, EXAMPLES TO FOLLOW, PRAYERS TO PRAY, ERRORS TO AVOID, TRUTH TO BELIEVE, SOMETHING TO THANK GOD FOR
Read JOHN 18:19-24

BOOK

John 18:19–24 NIV
19 Meanwhile, the high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and his teaching. 20 “I have spoken openly to the world,” Jesus replied. “I always taught in synagogues or at the temple, where all the Jews come together. I said nothing in secret. 21 Why question me? Ask those who heard me. Surely they know what I said.” 22 When Jesus said this, one of the officials nearby slapped him in the face. “Is this the way you answer the high priest?” he demanded. 23 “If I said something wrong,” Jesus replied, “testify as to what is wrong. But if I spoke the truth, why did you strike me?” 24 Then Annas sent him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.
To better understand, let’s look how this event was also recorded in the synoptic gospel of MARK 14:53-56
Mark 14:53–56 NIV
53 They took Jesus to the high priest, and all the chief priests, the elders and the teachers of the law came together. 54 Peter followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. There he sat with the guards and warmed himself at the fire. 55 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death, but they did not find any. 56 Many testified falsely against him, but their statements did not agree.
The chief priest and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence to justify their plan to kill Jesus— but they did not find any
Many testified against him, but none of their statements stood a solid ground to convict Jesus and be worthy to put to death
WHY DID THEY NOT FIND ANY EVIDENCE TO CONVICT JESUS?
Let’s take a look at what Jesus said when he was questioned by Annas

LOOK

I HAVE SPOKEN OPENLY TO WORLD
Jesus was never in hiding— whenever he taught, he was always in public
I SAID NOTHING IN SECRET
Jesus was very transparent
In one of his teaching called the parable of the lamp he said— LUKE 8:16
I SPOKE OF THE TRUTH
Everything Jesus said was true
What can we learn here from the Lord?
We are always subjected to accusations even though we’re not guilty of any
People have their own different motivations why they would do such things— in the case of Jesus, the high priest and the Sanhedrin are motivated by envy, insecurity, fear of loosing their power!
But they never found any evidence to prosecute Jesus of any wrong doing— why? Because He spoke openly, He said nothing in secret and He always tell the truth
You may have been accused falsely, or will be be accused falsely in the future— and if you want to stay solid and stand your ground strongly— here are a couple of things you should learn and remember from our Lord Jesus..

TOOK

I WILL ALWAYS BE TRANSPARENT
I WILL ALWAYS TELL THE TRUTH
