Introduction:

We are continuing in our series called, “Functional Church.” God is building His Functional Church out of Dysfunctional People.
This was true of the Corinthian church in the first century and it’s still true of the Church in the 21st century.
If that sounds upside down, it’s because it is...
What the Apostle Paul teaches the Corinthian church in the first century is just as relevant to us living in the 21st.
This first section of the letter, Paul is going to great lengths to correct the idealistic thinking that the Corinthians had about effective church ministry.
See, what seems to be happening is that after all that Paul and the Corinthian church had been through, the Church in Corinth was beginning to reject Paul. Can you blame them?
Paul was poor, he worked a second job, he endured constant suffering, he was pretty much homeless, and he was unimpressive as a person and a public speaker.
This was OK for a while for the Corinthians until they were exposed to Christian Twitter… wait, wait wait, did you see these other guys that were teaching Christ over here? They’re super impressive. Not only are they incredible speakers, they’re wealthy, and very successful. Isn’t that a sign that God IS blessing your ministry?
