Action Plans
Action Plan 1 = Serve the Lord = never grow tired of doing good
Action Plan 2 = Everyday Habits = joyful in hope, Patient in affliction, Faithful in prayer
Action Plan 3 = Real Genuine Love = true love from Jesus through us to Others
Action Plan 4 = Practice Hospitality = sharing yourself with others
Action Plan 5 - Forgiveness = the start of blessing
Action Plan 6 - Live in Peace
Action Plan 7 - Live in Harmony = be of one mind
Walk in the Power of Jesus
it is all about Jesus
We have to walk as Jesus did
It is true we need power to walk as Jesus
we have been talking about the nature of Jesus and putting plans into action
we are going to talk about our walk as we have done so over the last few weeks
we are heading to the point where we need Holy Spirit power to become more Christ like
The Nature of Jesus
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
this fruit of the Spirit is the exact nature of Jesus
when we walk as Jesus did we are taking on this nature
our action plans come out of this nature of Jesus
weirdly doing our action plans will conform us to Christ
we open doors for the Spirit to flow into and through us
everything we do should resonate in the heavenlies in a positive godly way
this is what we call discipleship
Being a Disciple
Jesus says it
Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.
Paul says it
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
* John says it
And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
it is quite simple yet difficult to do
we are to walk as Jesus did upon this earth as a man who did not sin
Walking as Jesus
Jesus knew that he had a connection with Jesus - 12 yo, 30 yo and his three years of ministry
Jesus knew the word of God - just not on a page, just not in his mind, but in every fibre of his being
Jesus understood his destiny, his purpose
Jesus was not going to allow the devil, the authorities of his world to stop him walking righteously
Jesus did not sin
Jesus walked in Love
he had compassion on the crowd and healed the sick Matt 6:14
he fed the multitude
he told stories about caring - the Good samitaritan
I want to say to you all this
Jesus walked in love and showed compassion first
his message of the kingdom was connected to his actions
Our Ministry
it has to be a walk of love
we can be the world’s greatest evangelist yet it is nothing without love
we can be the world’s greatest preacher yet it is nothing without love
we can be the greatest doctor or teacher or truck driver but it is nothing without love
Discouragement
must say this note of caution
the devil and the world of sin are constantly discouraging and diverting us from the message of Christ
they attack your good walks in Christ by telling you that you are weak, powerless, wasting your time
they attack your integrity and your character by telling you that you are not walking in Christ perfectly
they attack your ministry and your destiny in Christ by calling you useless and worthless, ineffectual in the things of Christ
they attack you by telling you to give up, to shut up, to go away and hide
The Voice of Jesus
I say to all of you, to every negative thought and criticism, to every discouragement
jesus is on your side - he will never leave you, never shame you, never criticise you
Jesus is with you each and every moment - we are more than conquerors, we are victors in the heavenlies
the devil can never steal from you, the devil cannot destroy what Jesus has given you
Stay true to the love that Jesus has shown you
walk in the love of Jesus and you cannot go wrong
be encouraged that Jesus is with you deep in your spirit and through your whole being
The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
