1001 Illustrations that Connect Illustration 226: Just the Way It Is

I was sitting at my desk in my study after having scolded my daughter, four, for misbehaving. I heard a gentle knock on the door. “Come in,” I said.

Bethany matter-of-factly said, “Daddy, sometimes I am good, and sometimes I am bad. And that is just the way it is.” Then she left the room, acting as though she had completely explained her misbehavior for all time.

I later commented to her that she had described the problem we all face. We all do bad things, and the Bible says even the good things we do are not good enough to meet God’s standard of holiness. That is why we need a Savior.

Sometimes, were like this little girl who expresses her mis-behavior as a little bit good, and a little bit of bad; too much sugar or too much spice....everything is not nice with humanity in this world. when we make declarations about ourselves or others whether they be true or untrue, Were not worthy to make such assessments.
― Martin Luther, Commentary on Romans
He who believes God, recognizes Him as true and faithful, and himself as a liar; for he mistrusts his own thinking as false, and trusts the Word of God as being true, though it absolutely contradicts his own reasoning.”
For such a season as this, the season of superiority arrogance and pride have been exposed.
We live in a world that many are suffering under tremendous pain. Needles are customarily located around the church demonstrates that people are hurting and the consequences of sin reaches the depths of east Baltimore all the way to the palatial palaces of the rich .......No one is worthy to point a finger at anyone unless we include ourselves in the description.

Faithlife Study Bible Introduction to Romans

The book of Romans dates to the end of Paul’s third missionary journey; he most likely wrote this letter from the Greek city of Corinth in the mid-50s AD (Acts 19:21; 20:3).

Faithlife Study Bible Introduction to Romans

Paul had not met the Christians at Rome (Rom 1:13), but the circumstances he mentions in the letter provide clues about his reasons for writing. Paul wanted to take the gospel to Spain, and he thought that Rome might make a good launching point for a westward mission (15:22–24)

Faithlife Study Bible Introduction to Romans

In the first section, Paul’s discussion focuses on four major points. First, everyone—including Jews and Gentiles—is under God’s judgment (1:18–3:20).

Many truths in this book have been a bedrock of Christian theology including Martin Luther. Let us see a few brief points on why we are not Worthy......
Point #1- Were Beneath ( shut your mouth) v9; v19-20

Christ the Righteous Substitute

He himself experienced our sin, he himself gave his own son, a ransom on our behalf, the Holy for the lawless, the innocent for the guilty, the righteous for the unrighteous, the incorruptible for the corruptible, the immortal for the mortal. For what else than that one’s righteousness could cover up our sin? In who else than in the Son of God alone could our lawlessness and ungodliness possibly be justified? Oh, the sweet exchange! Oh, the fathomless creation! Oh, the unexpected benefits that the lawlessness of many should be concealed in the one righteous, and righteousness of the one should justify many lawless.

pro•pi•ti•a•tion \prō-ˌpi-shē-ˈā-shən\ noun

14th century

1: the act of propitiating

2: something that propitiates specifically: an atoning sacrifice

Dictionary of Bible Themes 6712 propitiation

propitiation

The satisfaction of the righteous demands of God in relation to human sin and its punishment through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ upon the cross, by which the penalty of sin is cancelled and the anger of God averted.

Johnathan Edwards book Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” (Paraphrase) He firstly compares the wrath of God to damned waters, with God holding back "the fiery floods". He then compares the wrath of God to a bent bow, whose tension is increasing as justice prepares to loose the arrow of God's vengeance upon those "out of Christ".
The holiness of God demanded justice......
the Love of God sent His only Son Jesus to the Cross....
Romans 3:25–26 KJV 1900
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
He’s All that because He is Just and Justifier REPEAT 7X’S
2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV 1900
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Ro 1:17 — For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE by FAITH."
Ro 3:21 — But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,
1 Corinthians 1:30 KJV 1900
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
1 John 4:10 KJV 1900
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 2:2 KJV 1900
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

The message we get from these passages is that propitiation (also called “expiation”) pertains to Christ’s sacrifice for sins in order to bring about a peaceful relationship between God and humanity.

Love and Justice MEET AT THE CROSS
What Street are your on this morning…Were not Worthy Because Were Beneath and He is All that ,,,,,,,
Christianity affirms that at the heart of reality is a Heart, a loving Father who works through history for the salvation of His children. Man cannot save himself, for man is not the measure of all things and humanity is not God. Bound by the chains of his own sin and finiteness, man needs a Savior.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
