Isaiah 26:1-10 (NKJV) A Song of Salvation 26 In athat day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: "We have a strong city; bGod will appoint salvation for walls and bulwarks. 2 cOpen the gates, That the righteous nation which 1keeps the truth may enter in. 3 You will keep him in perfect dpeace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. 4 Trust in the LORD forever, eFor in YAH, the LORD, is 2everlasting strength. 5 For He brings 3down those who dwell on high, fThe lofty city; He lays it low, He lays it low to the ground, He brings it down to the dust. 6 The foot shall 4tread it down- The feet of the poor And the steps of the needy." 7 The way of the just is uprightness; gO Most Upright, You 5weigh the path of the just. 8 Yes, hin the way of Your judgments, O LORD, we have iwaited for You; The desire of our soul is for Your name And for the remembrance of You. 9 jWith my soul I have desired You in the night, Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early; For when Your judgments are in the earth, The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. 10 kLet grace be shown to the wicked, Yet he will not learn righteousness; In lthe land of uprightness he will deal unjustly, And will not behold the majesty of the LORD.1 Isaiah 26:1-10 (AMP) IN THAT day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah: aWe have a strong city; [the Lord] sets up salvation as walls and bulwarks. 2 Open the gates, that the [uncompromisingly] righteous nation which keeps her faith and her troth [with God] may enter in. 3 You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You. 4 So trust in the Lord (commit yourself to Him, lean on Him, hope confidently in Him) forever; for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages]. 5 For He has brought down the inhabitants of the height, the lofty city; He lays it low, lays it low to the ground; He brings it even to the dust. 6 The foot has trampled it down-even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy. 7 The way of the [consistently] righteous (those living in moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relationship of their lives) is level and straight; You, O [Lord], Who are upright, direct aright and make level the path of the [uncompromisingly] just and righteous. 8 Yes, in the path of Your judgments, O Lord, we wait [expectantly] for You; our heartfelt desire is for Your name and for the remembrance of You. 9 My soul yearns for You [O Lord] in the night, yes, my spirit within me seeks You earnestly; for [only] when Your judgments are in the earth will the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God). 10 Though favor is shown to the wicked, yet they do not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness they deal perversely and refuse to see the majesty of the Lord. 2 Matthew 11:11-12 (NKJV) 11 "Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 lAnd from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. 3 a Is. 2:11; 12:1 b Is. 60:18 c Ps. 118:19, 20 1 Or remains faithful d Is. 57:19; [Phil. 4:6, 7] e Is. 12:2; 45:17 2 Or Rock of Ages 3 low f Is. 25:11, 12 4 trample g Ps. 37:23 5 Or make level h Is. 64:5 i Is. 25:9; 33:2 j Ps. 63:6; Song 3:1; Is. 50:10; Luke 6:12 k Eccl. 8:12; [Rom. 2:4] l Ps. 143:10 1 The New King James Version.
