Do you remember a time without a microwave, a cell phone,
Do you remember a time when you didn’t have a computer in your home?
Do you remember a time when your home telephone had a cord.
Our young men today are “digital natives”.
Millennials to Generation x...
Drowning in a sea of digital chaos...
I see them as the Joshua generation....
Full of potential....
Joshua did war with Moses in ....
First mention of Joshua in scripture....
Possibly had served in some role....
But, now Moses calls his number....
Amalikites were a tough and aggressive bedouin people who roamed the desert region of sinai. They despised settled and half settled people who lived on the edges of the desert. They robbed and harrassed them, making themselves a serious threat to caravans and communities moving through the desert.
8 Now Amalek came and fought with Israel in Rephidim. 9 And Moses said to Joshua, “Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.” 10 So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. 11 And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 13 So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this for a memorial in the book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.” 15 And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-Lord-Is-My-Banner; 16 for he said, “Because the Lord has sworn: the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.”
God had fought for Israel, but this is the first time that He fought thru Israel.
Following the battle, Moses was to record in a book, and recount to Joshua that God would utterly and completely destroy Amelek...
Joshua was not to lose sight of what God was going to do to this people.
Next Moses built an alter, which he called “Jehovah my Banner” or “The Lord is my Banner” to praise God for His help.
Joshua covered in sweat, dirt and enemy blood looking for praise and adoration upon his victory only to have the wise old leader immediately put the spotlight on the One who granted victory.
Joshua must learn that the battle was won on the mountain, not in the valley.
The battle and the victory truly belong to the Lord!
1. Opportunities to lead carry consequences.
2. The mentality that true victory can only come from the Lord....
3. Understanding that prayer is a gateway to an - If God is for us- who can be against us - attitude!

Walked with Moses (Ex 24)
13 So Moses arose with his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up to the mountain of God.
17 And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, “There is a noise of war in the camp.”

11 So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.
