INTRO:
urgent need for the True Gospel
Romans 1:16–17 ESV
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
False Gospels spring up

Gospel Revealed to Paul by Christ

Galatians 1:11–12 ESV
11 For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man’s gospel. 12 For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.
backstory of Paul’s conversion
1 Timothy 1:13–16 ESV
13 though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, 14 and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 15 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. 16 But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.
God had a purpose for Paul’s life

Gospel Revealed to us by Christ

Why do we need the Gospel?
Isaiah 53:6 ESV
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Romans 9:11–12 ESV
11 though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—in order that God’s purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls— 12 she was told, “The older will serve the younger.”
Why do we need Christ to reveal the Gospel?
John 6:44 ESV
44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.
John 15:16 ESV
16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
message to the disciples - Jesus called them and said they would be fishers of men
God calls you - blessing of coming to church, you hear the Gospel - you’re not here by mistake
But I don’t have everything answered, how do I know to follow Jesus?
Disciples had no answers, when God spoke they responded
When God speaks to you, you will respond, not that you would want to reject
Being on stage - speaking, music, theater, dance, etc. // won’t be able to know what that is like till you experience
Paul didn’t know Jesus until He revealed Himself to Paul
like getting hit by a Mack Truck

Gospel is Revealed through us by Christ

2 Corinthians 5:17–20 ESV
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
In Christ you are a new Creation
Old way of living, the patterns of this world are not what you strive for
Christ Reconciled us to God and gave us that ministry
Preach the Gospel that the lost may be reconciled to God
We are ambassadors for Christ
God uses us as believers to share the message
Ok, I’m an ambassador, how do I share the message?
Christ created the message we just share it
2 Timothy 4:2 ESV
2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.
Fulfill the great commission:
make disciples of Christ
Baptizing
teaching all that Christ has commanded (found in His Word)
