Mark 9:14–25 CSB
14 When they came to the disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and scribes disputing with them. 15 When the whole crowd saw him, they were amazed and ran to greet him. 16 He asked them, “What are you arguing with them about?” 17 Someone from the crowd answered him, “Teacher, I brought my son to you. He has a spirit that makes him unable to speak. 18 Whenever it seizes him, it throws him down, and he foams at the mouth, grinds his teeth, and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive it out, but they couldn’t.” 19 He replied to them, “You unbelieving generation, how long will I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him to me.” 20 So they brought the boy to him. When the spirit saw him, it immediately threw the boy into convulsions. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth. 21 “How long has this been happening to him?” Jesus asked his father. “From childhood,” he said. 22 “And many times it has thrown him into fire or water to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” 23 Jesus said to him, “ ‘If you can’? Everything is possible for the one who believes.” 24 Immediately the father of the boy cried out, “I do believe; help my unbelief!” 25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was quickly gathering, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “You mute and deaf spirit, I command you: Come out of him and never enter him again.”

1. Jesus is our direction in the midst of confusion

Jesus is can calm the storms you face
Jesus gives us the true direction
Jesus is our true north
Jesus is the light in the darkness
Ask the right question

2. The enemy want to silence you

Faith in manifested in our speech
The tongue has the power of life and death
Proverbs 18:21 NIV84
21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
James 3:6–11 NIV84
6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. 7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, 8 but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?
What is coming out of you?
The dad said, “I believe, help my unbelief” he was confused
The enemy wants you in a perpetual state of confusion

3. The result of unbelief is confusion and chaos

Unbelief in God’s power—doubt
The enemy will make you focus on the thing that is not like you want and will blame God
The disciples got into a shouting match about what the problem was
Everyone was stating the obvious—the boy was being tormented
We must learn that God is Perfect there is no wrong in Him
What God does is just
God allows trials, even sicknesses in our lives to show His power
We must learn the lesson of our trial
Remember, God is Perfect

4. Belief is the key that opens faith miracles

We need to learn that many times “No” is God’s will for us
We don’t need a yes to our every request
We don’t know what is best for us, but we know our God has His best in store for us
Learn to give thanks at all times—for the perceived good and bad
1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV84
18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Our faith develops as we learn to give thanks
Ephesians 4:30–32 NIV84
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
You must get rid of anger
Too often, we blame God for our distress
Anger keeps you from faith

5. Everything is possible with faith

You must believe what you speak
If you rebuke the enemy, believe that he must submit and listen
You have authority, you must believe when you speak
Change what you think so that you can change what you speak
Philippians 4:8 NIV84
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
Change what you speak so that you can change your actions
Change what you do so that you can change your lifestyle
We live by faith and not by sight
The prophet said, “Open his eyes that he may see”
The problem was with the servant’s ability to see not with God’s ability to protect
Do you believe what you are praying?
Do you believe in whom you pray?
Faith is the result of your relationship with God
Jesus said, “You will know them by their fruit”
Faith produces fruit
Everything is possible if you believe
