Notes
Transcript
#1 - We do not NEED to Judge What God has ALREADY CONDEMNED (John 3:16-18; Romans 1:18-32)
#2 - Matthew 7:1-5 does not prohibit SPIRITUAL DISCERNMENT and Judgment of False Teachers and False Prophets… (Matthew 7:15-20; 1 John 4:1-6)
#3 - Matthew 7:1-5 does not prohibit CHURCH DISCIPLINE (Matthew 18:15-18; 2 Thessalonians 3:11-15)
#4 - Matthew 7:1-5 has no bearing on JUDICIAL ACTION in province or nation
This is NOT:
“Let People do as they please...”
“You have no right to ‘judge’ me...”
“I can be whoever I want to be and act however I want to act...”
“Do not think or ponder - CONSIDER… or be BLIND to wrong-doing”

Get off of GOD’s THRONE - Do not pass sweeping, God-like, acts of condemnation upon others (Matthew 7:1-2)

Here in Matthew, the phrase is linked to the idea that YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE
Here in Matthew, the phrase is also linked to POUND FOR POUND RETRIBUTION
In Luke 6:37, the phrase is linked to the REQUIREMENT TO FORGIVE, similar to Jesus answer to Peter in Matthew 18
Note: Compare Matthew 5:7 with James 2:13
Matthew 5:7 NLT
7 God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
James 2:13 NLT
13 There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judges you.

Open Your Eyes to the FACT THAT YOU CANNOT SEE What you are doing or where you are headed… (Matthew 7:3-5)

You are like a blind man on a galloping horse headed for a cliff...
“Clean up on Aisle 1...”
Matthew 6:22–23 NLT
22 “Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. 23 But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!

When We cannot see our own SIN and REBELLION - We are in a Precarious Position with regard to calling out others!

When We are FILLED WITH SPIRITUAL DARKNESS we are in a Pit of Miry Clay, and there is only ONE who can help us out!

IF We want to have LEGITIMATE conversations and to be able to HELP OTHERS OVERCOME their faults, then we Need to allow JESUS TO CLEAN UP our VISION, and thus our HEART

Galatians 6:1–5 NLT
1 Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. 2 Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. 3 If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important. 4 Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. 5 For we are each responsible for our own conduct.
