Glamorous to Mundane
Obvious to Unknown

God is in the Work You Do

There were many menial tasks that comprised building the wall but each one meant something to the completion of the task.
Individual acts of obedience is what makes up the faithful Christian life.
Every thing done in obedience is important.
Everyone of the individuals and families listed in this census was important because God had brought them back from their captivity. (vs. 6)
God is in the work, because God is interested in the life of every single person.
Each one counts!

Find Your Meaning in the Lord of the Work

The work was important to Nehemiah because it was in fulfillment to what God had instructed.
You can endure just about anything if you know that God has told you to do it.
Our obedience isn’t about the tasks worthiness of our time, talents or attention.
Our obedience is in doing what we do for his glory.
Colossians 3:17 NASB95
Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.
No matter what you do, if it is done in obedience to God’s call and in accordance with His instruction it counts!
