Text - Mark 3.22-27
22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebub,” and, “By the ruler of the demons He casts out demons.”
23 So He called them to Himself and said to them in parables: “How can Satan cast out Satan?
24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
26 And if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end.
27 No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.

The scribes were accusing Jesus that He cast out demons by Beelzebub
Beelzebub was known as the ruler of demons
Jesus defended Himself by saying Satan cannot cast out Satan
his kingdom will be divided
his kingdom will not stand
he will destroy his own work
Jesus delivers a strong message -
Satan has been the “strong man” in this world, and unchallenged
Satan’s days are finished because Someone has stepped in to bind him and plunder his kingdom!
The parable contains three important messages:
it announced the presence of the kingdom of God on earth
it declares Satan’s defeat
it shows the importance of the principle of binding the “strong man” and how we can appropriate it in our life

28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.
Jesus’ actions are not works of Beelzebub. but demonstration of the power of the Spirit of God
Luke 4.18-19 - the Spirit of the LORD is upon Him to set captives free
20 But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.
Jesus relates His works to Moses’ when God delivered Israel from bondage.
Exodus 8.19 - magic tricks failed to copycat the power of God
Jesus’s actions reveal the presence of the kingdom of God!

1 John 3.8 - the Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil
Matthew 11.4-5 - to John: the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the dead are raised…
THE KINGDOM OF GOD WAS ALREADY PRESENT AT THAT TIME BECAUSE JESUS IS HIMSELF THE RIGHTFUL HEIR TO THE THRONE OF GOD.

Satan is the strong man in the parable
he is strong - uncallenged for thousands of years since the Garden of Eden
he is fully armed - Luke 11.21 (fully equipped)
But Someone stronger than him has appeared on earth - Jesus
He is came first of all to “cast out” Satan - John 12.31
He is came to destroy the works of the devil - 1 John 3.8
18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
SATAN WAS DEFEATED AT “HIS OWN GAME”!
he slipped a seed into the womb of Eve
God slipped His own Seed into the virgin womb of Mary
he used animal seed (Serpent’s) to destroy humanity (by God’s own judgment!)
God used His own Seed to deliver humanity from destruction
although the serpent’s seed crushed the heel of the woman’s Seed…
it was a small loss, compared to the head of the serpent which the woman’s Seed crushed on the Cross
14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
Satan’s “killed” humanity by deceiving them to commit sin
Jesus delivered us from the power of death BY HIS OWN DEATH!
SATAN IS NOW BOUND!
Bind - to tie; to imprison; to be obligated
Binding restricts one’s movements
Example - Romans 7.2 - a woman is bound by law to her husband
Satan was bound by God’s “law of redemption”
the perfect blood of atonement has been shed, the sins are forgiven!
the ransom price has been paid, the people of God are free to go!
Satan cannot hold God’s people captive - their sins are all forgiven before God, paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ!
SATAN’S HOUSE IS NOW OPEN FOR PLUNDER!
Hades was plundered - the OT. saints were set free, raised with Christ when He rose from the dead!
the nations were plundered - God’s people are set free by the gospel of the kingdom

The church is engaged in a spiritual warfare in all her activities.
in worship
in soul-winning
in mission works
in building up the life of the believers
in gospel preaching and teaching
The success of church ministry lies in the proper appropriation of the victory of Christ over Satan on the Cross.
although Satan is already bound in many ways, he is still alive and employs tactics and minions to destroy lives, and deceive minds.
PURPOSE OF BINDING
Binding the “strong man” gives us freedom to move on in the ministry.
THE MEANS OF BINDING
the blood of Jesus - appropriate the blood Christ over our households, over our gatherings, over repentant sinners
the gospel - proclaiming the gospel is like enforcing a law that has been approved
the law of the Spirit of life - the New Covenant - has been approved on the Cross of Jesus, and is binding to everyone who believes
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF BINDING
It is a reminder that Satan has been defeated a long time ago on the Cross of Jesus!
Satan is so defeated even an ordinary child of God CAN BIND HIM!
19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
18 “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
It is a reminder that Satan is destined for actual binding and ultimate destruction!
Rev 20.1-2 - he will be bound for 1000 years!
Rev 20.10 - he will be cast into the lake of fire
Conclusion
Conclusion
Saints of God, you have been given this great authority over Satan and his forces! You can bind them by the blood of Jesus Christ!
Let’s use this power to plunder the world of souls that need deliverance!
Let’s use this power to take control of situation in our lives where we find the enemy trying to build strongholds!
Through the blood of Jesus we are more than conquerors!
