The Book of Job Part 4 - Typology
A foretelling; prediction; a declaration of something to come. As God only knows future events with certainty, no being but God or some person informed by him, can utter a real prophecy. The prophecies recorded in Scripture, when fulfilled, afford most convincing evidence of the divine original of the Scriptures, as those who uttered the prophecies could not have foreknown the events predicted without supernatural instruction.
Prophecy and the fulfillment thereof is one of the main ways God proves himself to be God.
21 Produce your cause, saith the Lord; Bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob. 22 Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: Let them shew the former things, what they be, That we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; Or declare us things for to come. 23 Shew the things that are to come hereafter, That we may know that ye are gods: Yea, do good, or do evil, That we may be dismayed, and behold it together.
9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, And new things do I declare: Before they spring forth I tell you of them.
21 Tell ye, and bring them near; Yea, let them take counsel together: Who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? Have not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; A just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times the things that are not yet done, Saying, My counsel shall stand, And I will do all my pleasure:
5 I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; Before it came to pass I shewed it thee: Lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, And my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.
Typology goes hand-in-hand with prophecy because it mostly deals with the big picture narrative of the Bible.
Type - A hermeneutical concept in which a biblical place (Jerusalem, Zion), person (Adam, Melchizedek), event (flood, brazen serpent), institution (feasts, covenant), office (prophet, priest, king), or object (tabernacle, altar, incense) becomes a pattern by which later persons or places are interpreted due to the unity of events within salvation-history. The “type” is the original person or event and the “anti-type” the later “copy” that fulfils the former.
A true type is the counterpart of its antitype, and, being specifically devised by God, is a vital part of revelation and inspiration. Even if the human mind could conceive the marvels of the antitype (which it could never do), it could not draw the pattern found in the type nor invent the manifold details—often incorporating many particulars and expansive circumstances which are a part of ancient history. Thus typology as incorporated in the Bible demonstrates the Bible to be such a book as man could not write if he would. It is divine in its origin as it is superhuman in its character.
And when we talk about the big picture, we’re talking about the prophetic timeline which Larkin put in his visual of the Mountain Peaks of Prophecy.
The typology seen will largely be those things that fit in the view of the prophet and goes into the main purpose of God.
The typology we expect to find concerns the theme of resolving the angelic conflict through the means of:
· Israel – her trajectory in history
· Christ – persons, offices, life situations
· Antichrist – in person and the spirit of antisemitism
These will be manifested through people, situations, and circumstances.
When we looked at our survey of the Books of Moses, I drew a crude picture of the chronological books and the complimentary books in the historical timeline in which they occur.
This is the same picture, just a little fancier.
Genesis exodus and numbers are the chronological books with Joshua coming living in into the next section
leviticus is complementary with exodus and deuteronomy occurs chronologically at the end of the book of numbers and it is the sermon which Moses gives to the generation that Joshua will lead into the promised land
Job of course is the book that is the odd man out
although some believe it may have been written by Moses and it certainly could have been it is part of the the chronological outline because the time frame in which the events of the book took place fit in the time frame of Jacob
But the structure and the style of the book in its grammar closely resembles the style found in the wisdom books which written much later
We also noted that the theme of the book was God
and the main thing that we should be concerned with concerning the theme of God is his victimization by his creatures in this book
Satan has already fallen and is now seeking to do harm or victimize another one of God's creatures in the person of job
and in victimizing job Satan hopes that job will then turn around and curse God which of course would make God be victimized again by another one of his creatures in job
Satan fails at this task because job will not curse God based on the circumstances that befall him in the first few chapters of the book
but Satan does use jobes wife to try to get job to victimize God by charging God foolishly
this is also the problem with jobes 3 friends they charge God foolishly by assuming God is punishing job because he is wicked
we called this the doctrine of retribution theology which really should be called double retribution because it not only teaches that if you sin God will punish you immediately but also if you do well God will materially and temporally reward you
neither of those scenarios is absolutely true and we looked at a few scriptures noting that the wicked are often blessed and living comfortably while the righteous are not
the best example of this we saw was in Psalm 73
We also noted the importance of the book by discussing a number of reasons human beings and especially righteous believers may suffer and of that list the two most significant were because of the fall and because of the angelic conflict which is at the center of attention in the first couple of chapters of this book
So today when I wanna do is take a specific look at the typology present in the book of job
we probably won't do this for every single book but I do believe that this book presents the most important part of the picture of God's plan for Israel and how it happens in the last days namely the time of jacob's trouble also known as the tribulation or great tribulation and also known as Daniel's 70th week

But before we get into that I didn't want to put up a brief outline of the book
this outline as well as all of the slides will be available on the church Facebook group so don't feel like you need to hurry and copy this down
but the book basically breaks down as I have it into four general sections
· the testing of job
· Job’s dialogue with his friends
· Job’s humility before God
· the restoration of job
in the second section where job is dialogue with his friends there are basically four cycles of speeches ending with job’s oath in chapter 31
we discussed that chapter because in that chapter job does layout the righteousness he presented in his life and even though he is doing it for a different reason we did note that it was a good model to keep for us in our practical and daily walk by means of the spirit

The 3rd cycle is when elihu comes and speaks of the righteousness of God
In the third section there are two cycles Of God rebuking job through rhetorical questioning interposed with brief responses from God
and after job’s second response to God then rebukes job’s 3 friends as his final words

The Book of Job has 42 chapters, The Tribulation is 42 chapters
5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river. 6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? 7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: 2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth, 3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices. 4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not. 5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, 6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. 2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. 3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. 4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? 5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
In Rev. 11 it mentioned the 2 witnesses. I take those 2 witnesses to be Moses and Elijah. So here in James we get a bit of insight about the length of time that Elijah told Ahab that it will not rain.
The cool thing about this is that James gives us a bit of advanced revelation because if you read 1 Kgs 17:1 where this takes place, it doesn’t say how much time it would not rain.

The Land of Uz
The Land of Uz
1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.
The land of Uz contains the country of Edom in NW Arabia.
21 Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz; The cup also shall pass through unto thee: thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.
Uz may have been named after one of the Grandsons of Shem (Gen 10:23) who was the son of Aram
In Job 1:3, Job is said to be the greatest of all the men of the east. If Job is of the line of Shem, it was his descendants that went east according to Gen 10:30
30 And their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou goest unto Sephar a mount of the east.
The east also contained the mountains of Aram (named after the son of Shem).
7 And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, Out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, And come, defy Israel.
Significance is that in the land of Edom and probably in the walled city of Petra is where the remnant will be hiding during the tribulation.
6 The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, It is made fat with fatness, And with the blood of lambs and goats, With the fat of the kidneys of rams: For the Lord hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, And a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.
1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, With dyed garments from Bozrah? This that is glorious in his apparel, Travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
6 God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, And mete out the valley of Succoth. 7 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver; 8 Moab is my washpot; Over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me. 9 Who will bring me into the strong city? Who will lead me into Edom? 10 Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? And thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies? 11 Give us help from trouble: For vain is the help of man. 12 Through God we shall do valiantly: For he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

a. The name Job means “persecuted” – Israel will be persecuted during the tribulation specifically. Jacob’s Trouble (Jer. 30:7). Job was persecuted by Satan, and his friends.
b. Job was positionally blessed (v.1) & materially blessed (v.2-3)
This was true of Israel. Israel was positionally blessed as the elect of God; and, their blessing are primarily temporal.

20 And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-aram, the sister to Laban the Syrian. 21 And Isaac intreated the Lord for his wife, because she was barren: and the Lord was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. 22 And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of the Lord. 23 And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, And two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; And the one people shall be stronger than the other people; And the elder shall serve the younger.
4 For Jacob my servant’s sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.
9 And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, And out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: And mine elect shall inherit it, And my servants shall dwell there.
22 They shall not build, and another inhabit; They shall not plant, and another eat: For as the days of a tree are the days of my people, And mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
Temporal Blessing
1 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. 3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. 4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. 5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. 6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. 7 The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. 8 The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. 9 The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways. 10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee. 11 And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee. 12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. 13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: 14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
These blessings are for obedience to the Mosaic Covenant
Job could have been a Jew and the son of Issachar
14 And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray thee, of thy son’s mandrakes. 15 And she said unto her, Is it a small matter that thou hast taken my husband? and wouldest thou take away my son’s mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee to night for thy son’s mandrakes. 16 And Jacob came out of the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, Thou must come in unto me; for surely I have hired thee with my son’s mandrakes. And he lay with her that night. 17 And God hearkened unto Leah, and she conceived, and bare Jacob the fifth son. 18 And Leah said, God hath given me my hire, because I have given my maiden to my husband: and she called his name Issachar.

Dr. Floyd Nolen Jones in The Chronology of the Old Testament says (p.20):
Job left his family in Egypt long before Joseph died and the cruel Pharaohs that followed him came to power. As he dwelt among the unregenerate offspring of esau in edam of the land of uz, God greatly prospered job. Obviously, it would have taken time for the news of Jobs plight to reach his family down in Egypt, and this is why they did not arrive to comfort him until the end of his trial (42:11).

Job 1:6 – 2:7 (also his wife 2:9-10). Job was destroyed materially and physically.
1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: 2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. 3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. 4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. 5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. 6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. 7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. 12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. 13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. 14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. 15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. 16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. 17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. 1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

15 Behold now behemoth, Which I made with thee; He eateth grass as an ox. 16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, And his force is in the navel of his belly. 17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: The sinews of his stones are wrapped together. 18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; His bones are like bars of iron. 19 He is the chief of the ways of God: He that made him can make his sword to approach unto him. 20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, Where all the beasts of the field play. 21 He lieth under the shady trees, In the covert of the reed, and fens. 22 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; The willows of the brook compass him about. 23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: He trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth. 24 He taketh it with his eyes: His nose pierceth through snares.
Behemoth is a plural word in the Hebrew reflecting the plurality of the description of the beast.
1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
Here we have a singular beast (v.1) manifested as a plurality (v.2).
19 He is the chief of the ways of God: He that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.
He that made him can make his sword to approach are cryptic. The literal is His maker bringeth nigh his sword. It can be translated (as in TEV) only the one who made him is able to kill him.
If we interpret the beast to be the antichrist, and only God is able to destroy him, then we see the type.
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

14 Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, And gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.
(7 headed beast in revelation; in the wilderness ie. Tribulation from the Exodus generation type).
33 Upon earth there is not his like, Who is made without fear.
Satan is the 2nd most powerful being in the universe and fears no other being including the triune God. We will see in Jude when he is disputing with Michael and Michael recognizes his authority and power and says “the Lord Rebuke thee.” When he is finally cast down to earth, there will be no other being like him.
34 He beholdeth all high things: He is a king over all the children of pride.
High things – Paul says
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
I take the high things to be the high places here – a spiritual realm.
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
I take this to be speaking of the authority given to him.
“He is a king over all the children of pride.”
Pride was the downfall of satan
6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
He is a king: a king has subjects. The subjects are the fallen angels and the men that walk in the darknes of spiritual blindness
10 None is so fierce that dare stir him up: Who then is able to stand before me?
Rhetorical question: if you can’t stand before Leviathan, you can’t stand before God. Therefore only God can control him and defeat him.
1 In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword Shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, Even leviathan that crooked serpent; And he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.
1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

7 And it was so, that after the Lord had spoken these words unto Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath. 8 Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job. 9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the Lord commanded them: the Lord also accepted Job.
a. Eliphaz the Temanite – Either the son of Esau (Gen. 36:11) or a grandson named after Esau’s son (this is more likely based on timeline. Esau was the other son of Isaac therefore of Shem.
b. Bildad the Shuhite – Presumably a descendant of Shuah; one of the children of Abraham with his 2nd wife Keturah (Gen. 25:1-2). Also a Shemite.
c. Zophar the Naamathite – Possibly a descendant of the city mentioned in Josh 15:41 though it may have been named as such later. Assigned to Judah in the conquest and was a city of the Philistines (descendants of Ham)
Japeth is missing because he is not one of Israel’s enemies throughout the scripture: it is usually descendants of Ham and/or other Shemite related peoples.
In general, they represent Gentiles being blessed by an Israelite when the kingdom comes.
23 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, Even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.

Therefore have I uttered that I understood not; Things too wonderful for me, which I knew not. 4 Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. 5 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: But now mine eye seeth thee. 6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent In dust and ashes.
Job’s repentance before God. As a type of Israel, they will be blessed with the New Covenant only after they repent and call on the Lord.
12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: 13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: 14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. 15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. 16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
35 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
Just as God used this time of unprecedented stress in the life of job to bring him to repentance the same will be true for Israel. the unprecedented stress Israel will face will be the very instrument that God uses to bring the Jewish remnant to faith in Jesus and the conversion will ultimately lead to the nation's total restoration.
10 And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
3 That then the Lord thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the Lord thy God hath scattered thee.
7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When the Lord bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
14 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that it shall no more be said, The Lord liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; 15 But, The Lord liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.
14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, And they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; And they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; They shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. 15 And I will plant them upon their land, And they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, Saith the Lord thy God.
19 Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: And I will save her that halteth, And gather her that was driven out; And I will get them praise and fame In every land where they have been put to shame. 20 At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: For I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, When I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the Lord.
Israel will be more fruitful:
Job was blessed with 2x as much EXCEPT in children: he lost 10, he got 10 back. This is a type of resurrection of the OT saint into the kingdom. Only those that died in faith will enter in, BUT Israel will be more fruitful as seen in Job’s 4x generations he saw. In the beginning of the book there is no mention of grandchildren of the 10 lost children.
