1 Kings 19 - Conquering the Lies of Despair

You Know Everything (19:3-5)

Elijah’s expectations were clearly not met.

Despair assumes you know all that has happened and how everything could in the future.

Our hope isn’t tied to our understanding, but to God’s.

We need to realize what we don’t know and keep our focus on God.

You Are Alone (19:10, 14)

Elijah was left feeling isolated from God and others.

God works in a way to remind Elijah that He’s with him (vs11-12).

Others have shared our experiences in the past (1 Corinthians 10:13).

There are more with us now than we realize (vs18).

You Have No Purpose (vs4-9, 15-17)

Elijah sees no purpose and despairs of life itself (vs4).

God holds life and death in His hands and if He gives life, there’s purpose with it.

God gets Elijah back on track through giving care (vs5-9) and giving him work (vs15-17).

There is too much for us to be a part of to check out physically or mentally.
