“I have decided to follow Jesus;

“Just as you have recieved Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.”
How do we walk in him?
You walk in Him by being rooted and built up in Him
You walk in Him by being rooted and built up in Him
7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
Be rooted in Jesus
Decide in your heart “This is where I am staying”
When you move to an area and decide to “plant some roots”
You make a decision that is where I’m going to stay.
“Being built up in Jesus”
Our “house” (OUR BODY) should be
be getting built up a certain way.
We don’t just join the club
Take on the characteristics of where we are rooted.
Think about the different styles that signify the various culture or eras of time.
Melissa and I love Victorian style Houses
I would love to build up a victorian style home.
This tells us to be built up in Christ Jesus.
To be rooted and built up in Jesus means
Our life should be permanently settled in Jesus
Our life should take on characteristics of that decision.
You walk in Him by being established in faith
You walk in Him by being established in faith
7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
More than just having faith
You are established in it.
Faith really comes into play when what you claim to believe is being tested.
Authority of scripture
God’s creative power
Deity of Christ
Today (like it or not) the church is being tested on what we really believe regarding the sanctity of life.
Not about abortion
About racism.
Are we pro-LIFE or pro-BIRTH
Particularly important for SBC

You might scoff at that.

You walk in Him by abounding in thanksgiving
You walk in Him by abounding in thanksgiving
7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
You understand that you have been given something special.
Eternal Life
Inclusion in the Body of Christ
You understand that you probably don’t deserve it.
Your actions speak for you
If not, then you are being polite but not thankful.
