The Best Blended Family
1 The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the son of Abraham:
2 Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers.
3 Judah was the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram.
4 Ram was the father of Amminadab, Amminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon.
5 Salmon was the father of Boaz by Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse.
6 Jesse was the father of David the king. David the king was the father of Solomon, by her who had been the wife of Uriah.
7 Solomon was the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, and Abijah the father of Asa.
8 Asa was the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, and Joram the father of Uzziah.
9 Uzziah was the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, and Ahaz the father of Hezekiah.
10 Hezekiah was the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, and Amon the father of Josiah.
11 Josiah was the father of Jeconiah and his brothers about the time they were exiled to Babylon.
12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jeconiah was the father of Shealtiel, and Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel.
13 Zerubbabel was the father of Abiud, Abiud the father of Eliakim, and Eliakim the father of Azor.
14 Azor was the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Akim, and Akim the father of Eliud.
15 Eliud was the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob.
16 And Jacob was the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the exile to Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the exile in Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations.
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened this way: After His mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child by the Holy Spirit.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man and not willing to make her a public example, had in mind to divorce her privately.
20 But while he thought on these things, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for He who is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
21 She will bear a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”
22 Now all this occurred to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet, saying,
23 “A virgin shall be with child, and will bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is interpreted, “God with us.”
24 Then Joseph, being awakened from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and remained with his wife,
25 and did not know her until she had given birth to her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.
1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, wise men came from the east to Jerusalem,
2 saying, “Where is He who was born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”
3 When Herod the king heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where Christ should be born.
5 They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for this is what the prophet wrote:
6 ‘And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are no longer least among the princes of Judah; for out of you shall come a Governor, who will shepherd My people Israel.’”
7 Then Herod, when he had privately called the wise men, carefully inquired of them what time the star appeared.
8 And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search diligently for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring me word again, so that I may come and worship Him also.”
9 When they heard the king, they departed. And the star which they saw in the east went before them until it came and stood over where the young Child was.
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with great excitement.
11 And when they came into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary, His mother, and fell down and worshipped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
12 But being warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they returned to their own country by another route.
13 Now when they departed, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, and escape to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word. For Herod will seek the young Child to kill Him.”
14 When he rose, he took the young Child and His mother by night, and departed into Egypt,
15 and remained there until the death of Herod, to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet, “Out of Egypt I have called My Son.”
16 Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, was utterly furious and sent forth and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and the surrounding region, from two years old and under, based on the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.
17 Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet:
18 “In Ramah a voice was heard, grieving and weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and she would not be comforted, because they are no more.”
19 But when Herod was dead, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
20 saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, and go into the land of Israel, for those who sought the young Child’s life are dead.”
21 And he rose, took the young Child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel.
22 But when he heard that Archelaus reigned in Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Nevertheless, being warned by God in a dream, he withdrew to the region of Galilee.
23 And he went and lived in a city called Nazareth, that what was spoken by the prophets might be fulfilled, “He shall be called a Nazarene.”
Jesus genealogy
shows that he is connected to the bloodline of King David through his father Not his mother.
What does this say to all the children that are being raised by their step-father and not their paternal father.
(Jesus had 4 brothers and several sister)
Mark 6:3
17 But some of these branches from Abraham’s tree—some of the people of Israel—have been broken off. And you Gentiles, who were branches from a wild olive tree, have been grafted in. So now you also receive the blessing God has promised Abraham and his children, sharing in the rich nourishment from the root of God’s special olive tree.
graftage: is a horticultural technique whereby tissues of plants are joined so as to continue their growth together.
2. Mary The Mother
25 and did not know her until she had given birth to her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.
Mary give birth as a virgin
Mary had to trust Joseph with her son
Mary’s encounter with the angel ceased and the Lord began to speak to Joseph.

3. Joseph The father
By far Joseph is the best step father ever
God’s Choice in Joseph was just as important as as his choice in Mary.
In order for Joseph to lead God’s family it required for him not to be intimidated.
It required a real relationship
It required Obedience
It Required Courage
It required the ability to decrease his role.
46 While He was still speaking to the people, right then His mother and His brothers stood outside asking to speak with Him.
47 Then one said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside asking to speak with You.”
48 But He answered the man who told him, “Who is My mother, and who are My brothers?”
49 He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers!
50 For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven is My brother, and sister, and mother.”
